UK Floods

Snake Dave

Schrödinger's cat
Hey everyone

Have any of our UK members been hit by the flooding sweeping the country? Because I have, you'd think that living on a mountainside would make you relatively safe. Nope, we have a small brook behind a row of conifers behind a fence, which has a storm drain in case of emergencies. Well after having some serious rain over the past couple of days (and whole Summer really!) We had a small river running through our garden and coming close to flooding our house. I was out there for about 4 hours redirecting water flow and shoving it into overloaded drains with the help of a few neighbours who were also hit. Turns out after an investigation today the storm drain was completely blocked up with reeds and water plants, rendering it useless. Here's some pictures to show you what I mean (these pictures were taken at a 'low' point).

Thanks for looking!

David

Dave thats crazy! Its been raining really bad but we never have troubles when it comes to flooding when the weathers been bad!

Thanks for the comments guys, everything's okay now and the flow has completely stopped since they fixed the drain. We've managed a whole day without rain too!

My town is on flood alert, we have a large river, going through at one end of the town, near to me, & that is nearing breaking it's banks, we are about 1/2 mile from this river, so don't think we will get flooded, never have before.
Marg.
