I am just so excited! My first breeding (Untramel het Lav x Opal) took and she's laying her eggs this evening. I've left her alone and just checked in on her once -- it's been about 4 hours, so I'll be abble to count the eggs and get them in the incubator this evening. :crazy02:
 
Congratulations! I know how exciting that first clutch is! Now comes the hard part - waiting for pipping!

from this clutch you would get:

1/4 ultramel lavanders
1/4 ultramel het lavander
1/4 opals
1/4 amel het lavander

those ultramel lavanders really are some interesting aminals, i dont think i could contain myself for the next two months. good luck
 
I guess I was thinking that ultramel lavender would be an ultra opal because there's still amel in there. Ultra and amel are both expressed in an ultramel, right? So wouldn't an ultramel lavender be an ultra opal? Geez, I hate science.

Yep they're both expressed, but an opal is amelanistic and an ultramel lavender is not amelanistic. :)

Stephen hatched some this year, too.

Maybe a new trade name will be coined for ultramel lavenders. (Oops, I'd better scram before Carol reads this!) :sidestep:

I see that a few people have figured out the short cut possibilities with Ultramels.

yes ,that is a short cut way,mine was from normal 50% chance het lavender & ultra x opal,so I think I really lucked out! (thanks Murph) lol! Having hatched out alot of lavenders in the past,I knew when I saw the first egg pip it didnt look the same as any of the other lavenders in the past,then for the first egg to be a ultramel lavender ! :cool:

Plum Corns and Merlot Corns come to mind, but I guess we need to see them shed and some quantities.

I think Plum would be too purple, how about Pluot? A Pluot fruit is a hybrid between Plum and Apricot.
