• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

UNBAN Wade (the petition for laughter)

You need to research why he was banned. Mods on this board don't take this action lightly and you haven't seen the whole story.

Just got back from reading the site rules;
unless he was threatening people I think we all need to unbunch our panties a bit.

Why don't you PM Rich and run that one by him. He (as the site owner) chose to permanently pan wade for a reason. Agree with him or not, it is his site and he can do as he wishes.

Maybe re-read them. You earn points for committing infractions, and those points build up over time.

-Abusive towards other members (1 pt.)
-Inappropriate advertising (1 pt.)
-Profanity (2 pts.)
-Antagonism toward moderators (4 pts.)
-Racist/Prejudicial remarks (4 pts.)
-Actual or implied threats (5 pts.)

Cumulative penalties:

10 pts.: Immediate 3-day ban
20 pts.: 1-month ban
30 pts.: Permanent ban
30 pts. (Spamming): Immediate permanent ban

Besides this mods can decide at their own discretion to manually ban you for some time.

I was wondering myself what Wade had done. It's not my business, but hey I'm human and am curious. I do miss his wit, but if he can't be funny without breaking rules then I can't really say much.

Starting an Un-ban Wade thread is not the best idea. He was banned by the owner of this site and there were many reasons for it. This type of thread is not recommended. I suggest if you want to discuss the ban you PM Rich Z.

If you are curious, this is the actual post:

And I would like to clarify this a little bit myself. Personally, I see no reason to tolerate anyone who uses this site to belittle and antagonize me. As an extension of this thought, since the mods are acting to help ME with this site, as volunteers, I also see no reason to tolerate anyone who belittles them while doing that job here. It would be foolish of myself to tolerate such antics and permit such actions by members towards those people who are taking a lot of time from their lives and giving a lot of effort to help ME make this site pleasant for as many members as possible while here.

I have personally bumped heads with Wade in the past, so it appears that he does have a significant, and apparently insurmountable, problem with the way this site is managed. So that I say "Farewell, Wade. It's been real...."

I am making the ban permanent.

well I've now read that thread, if you feel so obliged here it is http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102193

frankly your not missing much if you skip it, i'll sum it up for you.
Some people in life are really good at dishing it out but not taking it, that can be said for at least 4 people off the top of my head in that thread including Wade.

Not everyone can tolerate not being liked. For me I'll be sticking to the snake questions and answers part of this forum, not sure if I have a lot else in common with the majority.

I've been to free-for-all sites where anything goes, and they are not for me. Heck, Fauna used to be a free-for-all get down and fight site for a while which was OK if the subjects were dirty scammers but not so OK when the members turned on each other.

And just so you do not think I'm some goodie, I was banned over there once, maybe more, it has been so long I don't remember. I still speak my mind but have learned to be more careful, and that is a good skill to learn.

Maybe every site has bright, sometimes-likable people that simply can not be bothered to follow rules. There were a couple of those on Fauna and they are gone, and that is a good thing.

BTW I like Wade a lot.

Personally, I won't discuss any of this directly. But as a whole, I find myself appreciating the way that this site is run more and more every time I log in. It's like we take for granted how (usually) peaceful, fun, and easy going that this site is. I've tried being in a few other forums since this one, and let me tell you how often I go there now... 0, goose egg, nada.

I think of past discussions, arguments, etc... on here that made me angry, but I think in the moment I lost how truly fair this site is, and how silly I was for a lot of the things that I've said in the past. On the other forums that supposedly have more "freedom", you quickly realize how controlling the opinions become. It got to a point where it felt like a sick and twisted dictatorship where the mods, and people close to the mods, could basically insult you any way that they saw fit.

I know that the mods here all have different views on life, but I've never felt like it was ever forced that you had to think just like them to belong to the site. It's always been a place where I feel like I can talk to some very wise and kind hearted people. And if ever I was the one out of line, I felt like there were a lot of people who were quicker to offer advise then cast judgment.

I have never been a fan of perm-bans, unless it is for a spammer. I understand the rules need to be followed and enforced.

That said it's not my site and not my decision.

These are some of the reasons I really enjoy this forum. I have an opportunity to meet, informally, many people with many different, views that have a common interest. <~God I hope this makes sense?!?!

Think about how boring this place would be if we all felt the same way, had similar opinions and did the same things. Then there wouldn't be a need to create a new thread. We all could just refresh the page and read all the ads that surround us.

I enjoy the difference of opinion in husbandry, politics, etc. I enjoy the discussions about morphs, genetics and seeing the pictures of all the snakes I would love to own, but will never have the $$ or space to do it. On top of that, it is safe here. I don't have to worry about being personally attacked, ganged up on. Pretty much, most people follow the rules which help this place remain the fun place that it is.

Yeah, I miss Wade. I don't go on FB, so I don't get to read his sometimes funny quips, but at the same time, I understand why he is not here. I believe he in a sense, knew the line and he CHOSE to cross it. The evidence is his last two posts.

JMO!!

While I respect admins, mods, and site owner(s), I do miss Wade quite a bit. I would love to see him be allowed to come back, but I can respect a staff's decision.

I agree, he knew what he was doing. I do think that Wade contributed far far more to the site than he detracted. But when he detracted he left no doubt.

I think we should ban all the people that sign the petition, and then whip them too!
Or, if we do unban Wade, then we could restrict his posts to nothing but the emoticons, wait, he would find a way to abuse that too. I guess he will just have to stay BANNED.
