Updates on my '09s (Granite, Plasma, Blood, Ghost...thing)

jlindp

Ophidiophile.
First up is my '09 male Plasma, Cairo. After all these months, he's still a grouch-pants, and will probably continue to be. He was even more ornery today because he was in blue...which I didn't realize until I started snapping pictures.

Next up is my P/S Blood girl, Cerise.

She's been kind of a slow grower, with a very iffy appetite. She didn't want to move up to fuzzies for the longest time, but is now on hoppers! Her reds are really starting to pop and her diffusion just gets better and better.

This is Calais, my newest addition. She's a labeled Ghost Stripe, but has crazy dark eyes and a lot of pink suffusion throughout. She is 100% het Dilute, Bloodred.

And lastly is my weirdest corn, Mica. He's a Granite "het" for P/S, but is so insanely pink, I have to wonder what else is at work there. His pinks have become so intense, that they can actually be photographed.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, Mica is insanely pink. If you can breed him to other high pink snakes, then breed the F1s to each other, you might have the start of your own selectively bred morph of pink Granites!

Edit: Unless he is really a Granite plus. Then it would turn out to be Mendelian recessive & you can do the math as well or better than I!

Anyway, I hope it turns out to be recreatable, because he is really pretty!

Your Granite is amazingly gorgeous!! (And so are your other beautiful snakes, but man, that granite really stands out :) )

Awesome Granite! I guess it makes sense considering the color variation among Anery As

I wonder how much the pink will take over?!!!

Pink mutation! :D Mica looks so awesome though! The dark colors accented by the neon pink is outrageously awesome! =] Get on that project and start breeding him soon! hahaha

I thought Mica might have the Strawberry as well. I am looking up that gene right now and to me any pink snake is a suspect. Your Ghost is so cute with the little yellow nose.

Mica is really amazing! It's going to be fun for you to see what he'll produce down the road!

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Mica is certainly...interestingly colored. As for what's lurking in his background, it's unknown. He's an SMR Granite with P/S Bloodred & White-sided Granite grandparents, and that the Strawberry gene wasn't introduced into the line, though it's not impossible.

I'm honestly just glad he's getting yellow on him. His saddles are going through a weird color change that makes me wish they were more clean-looking. But oh well. I'm curious to see if the pink continues to intensify, stops, or starts to diminish with age. I'd like to pair him to my P/S Bloodred and my quite pink Ghost Stripe (possible pink Ghostblood Stripes in the F2!)

Mica's very cool. I don't usually like pink ghosts but I like how he's got plenty of melanin PLUS pink.

....(Not that I was suggesting he's hypo, just that that's where you more commonly see that much pink.)

Hrm, I think that's where my mind went too!! I was picturing the variation we see in Ghosts and thinking, "well I guess this isn't TOO strange."

I wonder if the het. Pied Side has anything to do with the surplus of color, considering that many Pied Side Bloods are very BRIGHT red.

Whatever's going on, I'm a huge fan! Jessica, don't get too discouraged if you think Mica is going through an "ugly duckling" phase. One thing's for sure, he'll eventually grow out of it! Hopefully you'll like the changes he goes through though as he reaches adulthood. And if you don't... you can send that ugly snake my way.
