my snakes are all in sterlites which i prefer because they kept getting out of the glass tanks. i've been using a heat lamp (actually a 125 w and a 75 w, so i can adjust temps as much as possible.) since every uth i've come across says to use only with a glass tank. i did google, but it's either only glass or doesn't give info. so can i ignore the glass only caution or is there a specific brand that is good for the sterlites?

You would need to put it on a thermostat even with a glass tank, but the thermostat would bring the temp down to 80-ish, which will not harm plastic.

ExoTerra sells a Rainforest model which is supposed to have a lower max temp- I want to say about 80. I have never used one, though.

I agree whatever heat source you need a stat with plastic boxes/rubs i just use mats in wooden vivs ceramic bulbs with a guard on i wouldnt use all glass fishtanks not as easy to keep a stable temp
