Lennycorn said:Usually you don't wire it directly to the UTH. You just place the probe above the UTH in the cage. Below the substrate. to get a good reading.
Then you can plug in the UTH to a rheostat to regulate the heat or use a thermostat.

Untill then, raise the tank so that there is an inch or two between the UTH and the bottom of the tank. This should help reduce the temp in the tank.
