I posted here about a week ago saying I was going to get a corn snake soon...well last night my husband suprised me with a hatchling :) I dont know if its a male or female or what type of corn it is but my new scalebaby is beautiful! Im sooo excited, I just wish I could post pics to show you all and maybe u can help me figure out which type she/he is, unfortunately I do not have a computer..just my phone & I dont see anywhere that I can upload pics from my phone :/ but anyway my corn is very light pink with off white markings, the pink is almost a faded pink rose color. The people at the pet store says she just ate, so yesterday was her first feeding. I appologize if this is a long post I just want to share and recieve any advice you all may have to offer . So my husband bought a 20 gallon tank that came with a water dish, a hide, a humidity & temperatyre gauge, a heat dome & light dome with the light bulbs, aspen bedding, and humitiy spray for when the snake sheds. I would of rather had the under tank heat pad but my husband says he isnt going back to switch anything :/ she seems to be adjusting well so far & seems warm enough. If I forgot anything, your advice & comments are very welcome :) thanks for reading

That is awesome, if I gave my gf a snake for v day she'd have it flying off the balcony in no time flat.

Thanx, lol oh no..i take it she doesnt like snakes..my husband is the same he is a little freaked out by them but he knows I love snakes so he puts up with it lol. :)

Haha its still too wierd to me I was soo scared of them before I ever held one now have three of them and the most recent one I bought for myself! My birthday is coming up I hope my husband gets me one! Were talking about a ball python

It sounds a lot like your hatchling may be a snow. Try searching some pictures of snow corns and compare them.

Well I hope your husband does get you your snake :) hopefully my husband will be like you and get used to snakes, then maybe we can get more :)

@ sinverse..thank you I will try that...last night I did that for a little while and I saw a similar looking corn but I'll have to go back & see the name...thank you again :)

Thank you Crotalis :) hopefully soon I will either get a computer so I can upload some pics or mayb I can use someone elses computer lol, neway I cant wait to share pics of my scalebaby with you all :)

am i misunderstanding your first post? it looks like you said you fed your new baby the day you brought it home? thats not good, you should have waited.

congrats though

@ lovehatepassion, sorry for the missunderstanding, what I meant was, the people at the pet store had fed the snake earlier in the day and told my husband not to feed it again for 5 to 7 days. So my snake ate yesterday early in the day & my huband bought my snake later on in the day around 6:40 at nite.

Ok so I just called the pet store where my husband bought my cornsnake and they said that it is a poltergeist cornsnake? Ive never heard of these before...and I cant find pics on the internet :/

HI, and welcome to the forum!
There is no such thing as a poltergeist corn snake. .......
But it sounds like a snow to me too.
I am a little worried about the over head heat..those things dry out the air in a tank really badly....I just don't want your new kiddo to cook.
Also, feeding the baby the day of rehoming...is bad bad bad. A little one experiances so much stress when it is moved to a new home and that makes a regurge really likely.
I hope that he/she does fantastic for you, and I have to say, this forum is full of really really nice people who will help you anytime you need it.

Thank you starsevol :) yea I didnt think that sounded right either :/ if I had webt with my husband when he went to get my snake I would of waited to bring my baby home cause I know its bad for the first day but my husband wanted to suprise me & he knows absolutely nothing about snakes...and I cant believe the sales people let him take my snake the same day either. Ive been reading everything this site has for a couple weeks now so by the time I got my snake I would atleast know a few things and ive learned so much frim these forums & all the helpful people here :) as for the lights im keeping a close eye on the temp which is at about 83 degrees...its supposed to be between 80 to 85 right?

Yes, it sounds like you have the temp set just right. I just worry alot about the light drying the air out, and then there is also more of a fire risk with them as opposed to an undertank heater. But many people use the lights and have good luck with them, they just scare me a bit!

You do know that eventually you are going to need to get a camera and post pics of your little one, don't you? Pictures are a must around here!!

Yea I thought the same with the lights so I just hope my little one will do fine, my husband is hardheaded about returning anything, so ill have to do I guess. I know I feel bad cause I cant post pics yet :/ I dont have a computer yet so I use my phone for internet but I dont think I can up load pics from my phone on here :/ hopefully I will get my laptop soon & then I will be posting lots of pics, cant wait to share my little one with u all! :)
