You could try what bitsy suggested now for free, and place the stick-on thermometer you're using onto the bottom of the viv to see what happens. As she said, it won't be accurate, but if the mercury doesn't fly upwards, it would suggest the temps aren't crazy-high as suspected (this is a common reason for hiding under the water bowl and for being extremely active).
Even if it is spring fever, it's absolutely imperative that you measure/regulate temps as accurately as possible (this doesn't always mean expensive).
