Vibram FiveFingers Toe shoes ~ Advice

My two cents...my bf got a pair and loves them. He regrets, however, not buying the all-weather ones. The ones he got are more for around the house and for nice weather (the sales clerk said the ones he got aren't made to get wet)

I've been looking at the hiking model, and there is at least one manufacturer out there making shoes based on the Vibram design but without separated toes...which is probably what I'll end up getting. I loathe anything between my toes (to the point I can't even wear thong sandals because they bother me)

Definitely try them on in-store if possible. FILA is coming out with their own model and should be available in stores at malls...we were actually told about them by one of the clerks at Finish Line...and their model will retail at around $50.

There's been no wear to the soles of the pair my bf has...he does note that they take a little building up to wear for long distances because it is very different on your feet than regular shoes.

The model that's for water has more insulation and straps on. It's not that the others can't get wet--they can unless you're getting the leather kinds, which are for indoors. It's more that the one that's made for water should keep your feet warmer and there'd be no risk of it coming off. I suppose it's possible that that style might be easier to get on and off when wet, but I don't know.

Injiji socks are around $12 a pair I think. But you know, I haven't had any trouble with mine wearing. I have 4 pair I think. I wonder if they wear less quickly in fivefingers, because your foot doesn't slide anywhere inside the "shoe" when you run. Or maybe it's just that I don't run enough. That could be, too.

And yeah, what Rishi says--you will definitely want to be dropping them in the washing machine on a regular basis. They get stinky.

I got these! They feel sorta funky, but I'm guessing I just have to get use to them? I'll be getting the socks pretty soon. I also like the White/black color :D Thank you all for your input on these shoes, it really helped me pick out the right ones :)

Want! D: They look so cool.

You really think? I think they look ridiculous as all get-out. But I do like running in them a lot better than I like running in shoes.

You'll get used to them in no time and you'll really like the way they feel. But take it easy. If you get sore, don't push it.
