I have no idea what they mean, but they are all over the outlying desert lands. The area I live in was home to the Paiute/Shoshone tribes for many, many years. There are archaelogical digs all over...Everything from perfectly formed arrowheads to camp sites, complete with foundation and fire pits. These petroglyphse are scattered over a wide area of what is evidently a large familial gathering area. A nomadic town, so to speak...
That would be an interesting area to live in. I remember an anthropology teacher I had that was doing a native amercan site in upper michigan. She was all ecstatic over finding the outer sheath of a corn kernal.
