Walk in the Desert--Dial-up?? No Way!

That would be an interesting area to live in. I remember an anthropology teacher I had that was doing a native amercan site in upper michigan. She was all ecstatic over finding the outer sheath of a corn kernal.

I came out here from NY, and this is maybe why I find so much pleasure in the rugged beauty of this area. It's sad how many kids have grown up out here, and couldn't even tell you where these petroglyphs are, and there are roads, walkways and fences surrounding them. There's even little information booths about them. But the kids that grew up here just use the area as a party-pit, most of the time. People just don't appreciate the beauty that they see every day. I know what you mean about the party areas in the desert, so many beautiful areas out here are just that to a lot of people. There is this area, not too far from my house, I would go there sometimes to hike around, and my daughter loved playing there. THere are a bunch of big red rock formations with caves and holes etc there, and in the middle a picnic area. Well the last time I went there, I took my friend there before she moved away. The red rocks where completely covered in graffiti.. I was so pissed. How can people not see the beauty they are destroying.. :(
