Walmart's off-brand Carefresh-like bedding...

Does anyone have any experience with Walmart's version of Carefresh, called Critter Care? I have the Natural on the left:

http://crittercare.com/products/

I'd been using aspen in a plastic tub, but the aspen absorbed the smell of the plastic so much it would give me a headache after a few seconds (don't know how the snake liked it).

As soon as I realized it was the aspen that smelled so strong (and not the tub itself), I wanted to replace it ASAP, but it was late and only Walmart was open. It was only after I got home that I decided not to dump this stuff in right away and went with paper towels. I don't think the snake likes the paper towels as much, so reconsidering the Critter Care.

It says it's made from "reclaimed wood pulp"... Is that just paper? LOL. It looks like paper, but it has a really strong chemical smell that I can't identify. I know what cedar smells like and it's not that, so I don't know.

From the picture, it LOOKS like Carefresh. But if it has a really strong chemical smell like you say, I wouldn't dare use it. You can use paper towels or newspaper in a pinch until you get more Carefresh or whatever you like best.

My CareFresh has a smell to it, but more like a cardboard paper smell, not a checmical one.

I've read somewhere on the interwebs that some people didn't like CareFresh because of the smell.

My concerns with CritterCare would be if the paper is treated, and what kind of wood fibers were used.

When in doubt, take the safe route.
