I already have a aztec corn almost a year old. I was wondering which would be a more docile 2nd snake, that wont grow to long. Of course they will be housed seperately. Something like a tree python or a boa. What do you think.

A tree python is hit and miss on the "docile" requirement. Have you thought about a Brazilian Rainbow Boa? They have a similar temperament to a corn.

Any reason for a non-corn?

I echo CAV's question:D I would want another Corn. Why don't you pick out a few your interested in and research each one. It can be a great learning experience.

Ideas: Ball Pythons, Rosy Boas, King Snakes, Milk Snakes.

Good luck and have fun:)

no particular reason, just something different. Don't get me wrong I love the corns.
I wanted something with a good temperament, and easily maintained. And will not become 10-12'
just researching info for now.

Well thinking of those requirments some good choices are:

Ball Python - I love my BP! But if you want a low care one you MUST buy from a reputable breeder or else you will have a world of trouble. Mine has been easy care since day one. Higher humidity requirments than corns, slightly higher hot spot as well.

Kingsnakes- California kings! They are beautiful. Low care. Sometimes more nippy than corns but quickly grow out of it.

Milksnakes- nippy, sectretive but can become quite calm as they mature.

bmm, out of curiosity where can I find a reputable breeder around T.O
I got my corn from reptilia up in Vaughan.

I would also have to go with a ball python. I have had mine for almost 2 and a half years and he has not once bitten me. There great and not that hard ot take care of.

Mykal -

There are quite a few good breeders for Ball Pythons around here!!! :D Reptilia is a good choice as well! And I know they have baby BP's most of the time.

Here are some webpages:

http://www.ballpython.ca - Markus Jayne
http://www1.kwic.com/~retic1/index2.htm - Constable Reptiles
Corey Woods but I can't remember his webpage, it may be his name .com

If you are looking for another type of snake of want to check out classifieds look at http://www.reptilerescue.on.ca or ssnakess.com classified ads for TO.

:D

The problem is that one snake often leads to two snakes and that can lead to three snakes... etc.

September '01 I found a snake in my classroom. A little ground snake. Then I went to a reptile show and brought home a Rosy Boa. Then I came into some money and bought three king snakes. Then I got another king snake, then another, then four more ground snakes like the original, then I got three corns and another kingsnake. Then I bred two pairs of snakes and got 16 eggs. Then I got a couple more kings, a jungle carpet python, and a tiger rat snake. Then another kingsnake. Now I have 5 rat snakes, a kingsnake, and 3 corn snakes due to be shipped to me in October.

It's WAY too addicting. WAY too addicting. STOP while you still can!

How about a childrens python? I don't know much about them 'cept from holding them in the shop. The one I held was very docile and I was told that they don't grow that big (hence the name children's python).
