Warmth suddenly gone cold? What happened?

Jeez I just can't win.
So I cleaned out Nagini's enclosure for the first time and I'm wondering if I bumped the thermostat or something, because it just shut off at 77*F and that's not right, so I bumped it back up.
I'm wondering why on earth this is happening all of a sudden, so I had to have bumped it.
Just so we have all the facts. She was on aspen but both the probe and thermometer probe where touching the bottom under the aspen, I just changed to newspaper so I can better monitor now for health reasons. I put both of the probes underneath the paper, and obviously I expected the temp to be low (at 73* room temp) but now it seems like I have to reset and monitor the UTH again...

Ok are you guys ready for this?

This post was brought to you by a completely blonde moment:

Because I was trying to get both of the probes underneath the paper I made a stupid mistake, the probes were not directly above the heater, but over the leg of her enclosure which in turn is proped up with some cardboard to let the air flow under.

...wow I'm stupid.
Carry on.

So that the heat doesn't get trapped under neath her tank. I took two little bits of cardboard and folding them in half and put them underneath the legs to raise it up.

heh.. dont worry we all have those "blonde" moments. As long as you figured it out before she froze or roasted, its all good. :D

Hi all!

When setting up JayCee's tank I was concerned about heat build up- especially with the faux wood his tank was so sit on.
Solution?....
I cut down a 1x1 piece of finished wood into 2 pieces to fit into the 'lip' of the underside of the tank- THEN I stuck the UTH onto the glass.
