Water Bowl Question

Hello!

I was getting Jag a new water bowl at the store today, and at first I was going to get one of those fake rock ones. But I've had those before and I really didn't like them because they were a pain to clean with all of their nooks. Also, for the big one that I would need - they are over 20 dollars.

So I had an idea to use a dog bowl, plastic, smooth sides, easy to clean, cheap. I found a big enough (area wise) but my concerns are its pretty deep. I measured it and it is 3.5 inches deep. So I am wondering if this is okay to have such steep sides. Should I not fill it as high? I worry about a worst case scenario of drowning if she were soaking.

Anyone have any experience using these deeper bowls?

Thanks!

I use ceramic dog bowls for all my snakes. Even a 3g mini-hatchling can get out of a 2" deep bowl. If you get plastic, they LOVE those bowls with the cutouts on the sides- they love to hide underneath.

Thanks Nanci! I was looking at the bowls with cutouts, but I think Jag is just way too big for those now - although I am sure she would still try!

I use pyrex round storage containers, 7 cup for adults, 2 cup for juvies. They're durable and easy to sterilize...just toss 'em in the oven or microwave. I have dishwasher-safe melamine sauce cups for babies.
