Okay, I have water in my cage all day every day, changed often. But I'm not sure if Eden has ever drank from his dish. I've had the flat rock kind but changed to an old butter container so that if he wanted to he could bathe... There's always less water every time I look but it could just be the heat lamps evaporating it. Which water dish is best and how do I tell if Eden has or hasn't been drinking out of it. S/he's really shiny and healthy looking... AND HUGE!!! I just realized that Eden's only 4 months old and nearly if not completely 2 feet long.
 
It is good that you are providing fresh water, and changing it daily. A snake will probably only take a drink at most once a day, and so the chances are that you can go many months without seeing your snake drink. That doesn't mean that it isn't happening, so just keep providing the water.

I like to provide mine in a bowl large enough for the snake to soak in. Although they never do, they still have the option.

I very much doubt that your snake would drink enough for you to see the level drop, so your suspicion of evaporation is most likely to be correct.

If your snake looks healthy, moves and eats normally, then no worries. One day you'll get to see the water bowl being used.

I've noticed that my snake will take a drink if i'm holding him and bring the water bowl up to his face (I know he is spoiled).
 
Mine drinks all the time. I get to see her in her viv, or if I'm holding her, she doesn't care. It's kind of cute though, their little cheeks poofing out while they suck up the water!
 
seen mine drink when i first had him, not even a week old, i thought i'd "bath" him, and h drank the water, course me not knowign wot a snake looks like wen drinking, i thought he was drowning, i paniced and whiped him out, my heart was beating a mile a minute
 
It is very good that you are changing your snake's water often. Keep doing that.

The best water bowls are the big, heavy ones that will not be knocked over or moved easily and are not hollow underneath. You will probably want to make sure that the bowl is big enough to bathe in, even if he doesn't. The hollow ones are good for hatchlings, especially if you cut a hole in one of the sides to provide an extra hiding space. If your snake is big and grows quickly, this shouldn't matter to you. Just be sure you are not feeding your snake too little or too much.

Geoff, my fiance, claims that he's seen Eden checking out the bowl at night while I'm asleep, and he's eating and digesting right, so I assume Eden's waiting until I sleep to do such things so that I worry.
 
seen chione drink out of hers a few times..
she has 2 bowls in her tank, one at either end so that she has a choice of warm or cold water...
the "warm" water bowl was put there to slightly increase humidity through evapouration but it also appears to be chiones preferred drinking hole :D
 
i let my 2 corn snakes know that dinners on the way by gently tapping on the tank, they both come out to feed and when i change the water i let water drip off my fingers onto them and they go to their bowl. well trained i guess!

I'm wondering are you feeding them in the tank?!??? Because I've heard it's better to take them into a different environment from their tank so that very time you open the tank so they don't think they are getting food. and just go straight for everything...though a risk of a biute is 1 to 999999999 billion and that corns are very docile, you never know when that 1 could come up and bite you...
 
lol, the snakes definately know the difference between you and a mouse.... the minute I bring a mouse into my cage using forceps, it knows and eats it within the minute, When I slide the top off to grab Eden, it knows and has yet to bite me within it's viv.
 
owning nearly 100 snakes

EVERYTHING gets fed in it's cage! I have those that have strong feeding responses and those that can be safely picked up bare-handed when hungry. I gotta disagree with the bite odds, though! I've been bitten probably 50 times by one cornsnake! I'd rather get bitten by a small corn than a mosquito, though. I still try to avoid it, just to make life less stressfull on all of us....
