The school system's auto call called this morning at 6am to say school was closed. I was like "What" for what reason? What I didn't know (since I rarely watch news) is that they were calling for snow. A few hours later it started and it just stopped a couple hours ago. Here are a couple pics

Thats funny that they cancelled class just because of the threat of snow! Out here, there has to be at least 4" on the ground before they might cancel. In Colorado, there was 3ft on the ground and the university still did not want to cancel, but were forced to because there were water leaks in the school.

Its been dusting here on and off all day, but no real accumulation :(

The only day I've ever had my university close was the day a water main on campus busted. No matter how thick the snow, never closed. (though sometimes professors would cancel class...but of course I'd have to walk/bike to class in the snow/ice to find out it was cancelled). Yeah I biked in all conditions, and only slipped on ice twice (and only once ended up flat on my butt! lol)

But like you, around here there has to be a blizzard for school to cancel. If conditions are slippery we might have got a 2 hour delay (in grade school). Growing up, my town always seemed the worst though... All the towns around us could be closing schools...and ours would still be open. Lame! I remember two times riding the bus where it got stuck.

We had the weather people call for a "wintery mix" yesterday so my final exam was delayed by 2 hours lol. The buses were extra slow, I waited out in the snow and ice for like 30 minutes before it got there. And walking to class from the bus stop, the brick sidewalks were coated in ice so I had to be veeeerrry careful not to fall. It was downhill the whole way lol...

It kills me how down south they shut down just for a couple of inches of snow. Up here a couple of weeks ago we had 20 inches of snow in less then 48 hours, no schools were canceled and I still had to go to work. You certainly tell the difference between snowbelt areas vs others.
Love the pics btw :)

We get snow, ice, sleet, and the kids will still have school. Our school system has 3 days alloted to snow days and I can only remember one year where they had to make up a couple of days at the end of the year. They hardly ever call off school. It has been called more because of below zero temps then snow.
