We had a visitor today!

So I got home from work this morning around 8am (I work midnights as a law enforcement dispatcher) and apparently I had a buddy follow me through the front door.
I was in my bedroom changing and my boyfriend goes "Uh Caitlin, there's a snake in here!" And as you all are aware, as a snake owner when someone says that, you automatically think OH MY GOD which one is it? Which one got out!? That was me, freaking out lol as I had just fed the boys yesterday and was internally kicking myself for not securing their vivs properly!
( They are both fine and still in their homes, as it turns out I'm a fairly capable owner lol! )

But instead, it was an outdoor snake that followed me in the house.
It was hiding in our closet by the front door.
So we had to haul allllllllll the crap out of the foyer closet to find this guy.

My boyfriend put on a glove ( I am woman, I am kinda smart- I gave it to him )
and I herded my two extremely curious mutts into the spare room- My golden actually found the snake first and was trying to play with it - but since we didn't know what it was, the last thing I needed was for my dogs to get bitten.

So we find little man hiding in the corner, hissing away. We were terrified (Not really)
I am pretty sure he is a baby Garter, or Eastern garter snake.
He was a feisty little man! He was musking and snapping his little mouth, he was none too pleased about being captured lol.

So of course after a little photo shoot of the adorable, ferocious juvenile we let him go back outside.
It's funny to think 2 years ago I would have FLIPPED OUT if there was a snake in my house, loose- Today, however, I was like "Okay let's get this stuff moved and find the poor scared worm" lol he was so beautiful and I feel I am a better person for appreciating the lives of snakes, both captive and wild, and how important they are <3

Pictures are always good lol

What a beauty! Good thing he wandered into your home and not someplace anti-snake.

Yeah that's fore sure, he would have had his littler head removed.
I was not scared, I just wanted to make sure he was okay.
If you're a wild animal and you wander into my house, be prepared to be petted and have your picture taken lmao

Cute snake! I had to remove one from a friend's closet a couple months ago. (Which was when I learned my foster dog could bust out of crates...)
