Just a little friendly information related to weighing your snakes. Today was my monthly/pre-brumation weighing day. One of my yearling females weighed in at a wonderful 278 grams, but is also in shed and I knew hadn't defecated in a while. Fast forward to cleaning and watering cages, this same female left a nice big dooker in her cage . . . :) . . . had to weigh her again. She weighed in at 252 grams post-dooker. That was 26 grams! (Sorry, no pictures.)

Just shows how important it is when you weigh your snakes!!

:roflmao: I love the term "dooker". I'm going to start using that.
 
I have one female who is notorious for not having a "dooker" for several weeks. But when she does, you can smell it a mile away! I swear that its weight is equal to two mice in that pile she leaves me about once a month! :puke01:

Icky! Ya I dealt with my first adult poo today haha it was icky but manageable.

Me too. I found it quite interesting that she left the present today after I had weighed her the first time. I was able to support the obvious with actual results.

I also find that they weigh significantly more before shedding compared to after shedding. They retain a lot of fluid when they go into shed. (Hmm more similarities between shedding and menstruating!)
 
Another vote for weighing right before feeding. Big Jake did a monster dooker in his water bowl yesterday before I was leaving for work, and I had a brilliant idea to flush it instead of forcing it down the sink with chopsticks, but the smell of the empty bowl was _so_ bad I still almost vomited, like to the point where my eyes were watering...

I didn't know this. It may explain the totally soaked tub last time my BP shed and defecated at the same time.
 
It seems like Nagini has to go even on feeding day, I take her out to weigh her and theres always some poop bulge around her vent, oh well lol.


Weird, her bowel movements weigh more than my unborn fetus :grin01:

They also retain quite a bit of feces. In my experience they hold in a defecation or two until after they shed. Actually, if you're lucky they'll leave it nicely wrapped up in the shed so it's easier to remove! :crazy02:
