I've been told that if a corn's belly looks rounded but the spine is slightly showing (like in a gravid female, triangular shape), there is something wrong with the digestional system/intestines. Since one of my yearling corns can not be pregnant but has this slightly 'triangular' look, I wonder if you guys have heared of this and know if it is true and what is best to do? He refused or ate with little enthusiasm the past couple of weeks (from the day I moved) but the last f/t meal was attacked yesterday. I fed a large fuzzie but she fed on hoppers before this started. Could this have been stress messing up her digestional system, causing the change in shape? So, might it just get normal after some normal sized meals?

Thanks!

By the way, about 3 weeks ago I gave her a dose of Flagyl, to be sure that if any flagellats where present, they got killed. I plan to repeat it soon. I did this because a very experienced keeper advised it.

Must admit, I've never heard that one before.

Could you post some pics?

"Eating with little enthusiasm" is just "eating". Some constrict, some don't - it's not a measure of how healthy they are. It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about if he's taking food, although maybe he's just going to be a slightly irregular feeder.

Photos would give us a better idea if you have any that illustrate the body shape that concerns you.

would be difficult to catch that shape on a pic i think...

but i do think that if a very good feeder gets less enthusiastic, one should better take notice of it
