during the fall/winter seasons I have a full-time job as a chef at the local restaurant...During the spring/summer seasons I have a job part-time at the local restaurant and a full-time welding job...I also repair computers on occasion, not often enough though...

I paint very rich people's houses
Actually, it's a pretty good gig, although I spend many hours daily dragging ladders and climbing scaffolds. I have three employees and paint for surgeons through word of mouth (I don't even have a business card) in Asheville, NC. I also am an amateur boxer and NHB fighter (mostly Brazilian Jui-Jitsu) in NC tournaments. Most of my time is spent on the job (50 plus hours per week) the rest in the gym, at the bar, and I seldom miss church on Sunday. I know, sounds like a walking contradiction, but it makes sense to me; I'm living right.:cheers:

I boxed for 14 years from a little kid through most of highschool. I gave it up and just train now as I am 5'7" and a 195 lbs. Thus it was hard to find a comparable fighter to fight as I was 5-6 inches shorter than the guy I would fight. I hate when your opponent has about 4-5 inches of reach. I had an upperhand being a southpaw but a smart oppenent can quickly adapt and keep you from circling to his weak side. I get enough exercise in the gym and training on the bags (heavy, speed and double end bags) I dont need the fat lips or getting "laced" anymore. But I do love all my gear still.

Seems to be my forte. BJJ is brutal in matches, but much easier in the gym than boxing (where all injury seems to occur). I'm a leftie, too; at least until my right jab gets tired. I'm almost 35 and will have to hang it up soon. I've had a neck injury and either paint fumes or getting hit in the head a lot has taken it's toll already.

Is that Brazilian jj? like ultimate fighting guys use? that stuff is pretty neat. I still think the fighting is out for me at least in a match. Like I said normal guys at near 200 are at least 6 foot tall so I just use my knowledge to keep me and my other safe when we are out. Thugs.... I hate em. And as far as the mom and pop pet stores, I cant see why anyone would bash them. I find them to be great customers for me and they are generally more knowledgable than the 15 year old at the franchises. How many times have you walked into pet co and seen corns and kings in a really moist enviroment. I would think anything that supports live moss and looks damp is just a little to wet for them to be there for the couple of months they are. At least thats what I witness. Anyways this is a great post as you can never "network" too much. I would think that we could all help each other out in one way or another besides cornsnakes. I have already talked with Cyntax several times about his motorcycle. I would love to talk to a professional landscaper as I keep trying to be one at my house and just cant pull it off with my guesses. Everthing I do takes way to long cause I just get into it without having any idea of the right way to proceed. I think it turns out alright but I wish I knew the secrets to cut the time by 75%.LOL

I just know that every once in while there's a specific point made (about specific locations mind you) about mom&pops being less than sanitary, etc. It's said just as often about Petco and others as well though. I just have to stick up for my niche in the world!
Also, I would have to second what oreo said about networking. Excellent resource for using/helping each other for issues outside of cornsnakes!

I've been in the Navy for 17 years and have mangaged to maintain a snake collection of decent size for 12 of those 17 years. Deployments are tough but my wife (school teacher) does a heck of a job feeding the little ones and watering the adults while I'm gone.
One of the perks of my job is all the travel to remote areas (Bahamas, Spain, Latvia, Guam, Indonesia, Thailand, Seychelles, Sicily, Africa, Japan) basically all those really neat places with lots of snakes to find. Currently on deployment now and so far have found Ladder ratsnakes in Spain, Brown Trees in Guam, and some kind of Boa in the Bhamas.
The pay is pretty good too. Anyone want to sign up?

Hell No!LOL Seriously though I am not one to be uncle sams patsy. I would certainly defend my country if there was some sort of offensive on our soil. I hate to sound like a protester but I see no reason in having someone tell me what to do 24/7 and when you cant stand it anymore they tell you they basically own you. Forget it. You guys can have the glory. I wouldnt have minded the training for combat but I think the price is too high. I can stay in my jeans and t-shirt and own all the weapons I want. BTW did any one check out Rich's armslocker.com? Potentially a great site for those of you into weapons. I wont divulge my stockpile but you could say I am not worried about my home.

I can respect your opinion, it's definately not for everyone but I must tell you IMO your view definately shows your inexperience with the military. It's not like we're a bunch of mindless people who have no say
