What do you do with your snake?

OK, so maybe this is a weird question, but here goes. . .

when you take your snake out and hold it (or him in my case) what do you do? I mean, Riley is little and curious and he's always pulling out of my hands. I find myself just standing in one place holding him.

Should I let him explore a little, like on the futon (no cushions, no hiding) or something? Is there something I can put out that he might enjoy exploring?

I want him to be used to being held (and he doesn't seem to mind it), but I'm not sure what he wants to do. . . :shrugs:

Don't put him down on anything. They are fast and can go under/between places. The best thing to do is just stand there and let him wander through your hands and arms and such. He will get used to you eventually.

When i take my guy out, i usualy hold him for a few minutes in my hands, then i let him explore my bed for a little while. It gives him lots of room to move and i can keep a sharp eye on him.
However, be on the ready. They can move fast. If they start making a bee-line for the edge, you gotta catch em'. Also, id recomend, making sure the bed is neatly made and you dont have any blankets bunched up on the bed. They can find those little folds in the blankets and sheets and travel fast through/along them.

Just put one hand in front of the other in the direction he's pointing in and let him roam around you :)

I was always too scared to let mine roam as a tiddler, they're just TOO quick to chance it. Disappearing down the back of the sofa = worst nightmare.

When he's a bit bigger you'll be more confident about not keeping such a tight hold on him. The middle of a bed is a good idea if you do want to let him go. Just stay very close..

If he's a hatchling, I wouldn't recommend putting him down. They are amazingly fast, and there's not much to grab on to. I just let them wander through my hands like Tracee said. Once they are a bit older, I put mine down on the floor, but always stay close and keep an eagle eye on him.
