What do you guys do when you're sick?

I've been sick off and on for about 2 months now. I'm not sure if it's caused by my work (thrift store, so a lot of dusty and old stuff) or if it's maybe even just sick people at my work ... I know I was never got sick this often at school though. :p

I'm trying to think of how I can prevent getting sick all the time, I literally feel sick 2 - 3 days a week or more (this week it's lasted all week!).. ugh. :awcrap:

Went to the doctor yesterday and he claimed he doesn't even see anything wrong with me (really bad throat and overall yuckiness) He said it was probably just a cold or something lol well this cold has lasted two months if that's the case!

I've heard eating raw garlic works, but that doesn't sound very... Tasty.. :sidestep:

So what do you guys do? Vitamins, suppliements, exercise, orange juice? Anything?

Thanks in advance!

Love Sickie. :roflmao:

I was thinking this and it's possible.
I'm not aware of having any allergies, I should look into this more...

Since it's usually stuffed up, sneezing, sore throat... Which I think happens when you're allergic to something. Right?

Either way though, allergy medication is expensive and I'm not sure I'd be able to buy if every week or so. :p So I hope it's not that.

Hey. I hope it's not allergies, because I have them and they are tiresome. But if it is allergies, at least you'd know what's wrong. And there are things you can do to help yourself.

Here is a link that might help determine if you have a cold or allergies:
http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/cold-guide/common-cold-or-allergy-symptoms

I do think it's possible that you could be sick for a couple of days after working if you are working in a very allergenic environment. It's possible you have developed them even if you didn't have them before.

Perhaps you could try taking Claritin or a Benadryl for a couple of days and see if you feel better. If you do, it might be a clue. :) Hope you feel better!

I think I'm going to have to try the allergy medication and see what happens.

I'm going to vote on having a constant on/off cold though, just because on that little list the sore throat/cough isn't very likely if it's allergies but is if it's a cold and that is usually what is bothering me.

Which is hopefully a good thing!

is it possible you haven't given your body enough time to recover between illnesses? I'll be chronically ill for months simply due to running myself ragged. Eventually I'll crash and sleep for 14 hours straight and bum around the house and then I'll be better until the next sickness comes around :D

I had that going on for literally YEARS! Then we switched bedrooms. Voila'! No more allergies. It was the mold that got to me. Now it's my art room, but we've put in de-humidifiers, and since I don't sleep in there, I no longer have the nasty symptoms.

Can you wear a mask at work? Also vitamin C and/or an all-round vitamin supplement helps keep your immune system working its best.

I can't wear a mask no, due to being store front retail.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of gloves this weekend that I'll wear and maybe some orange juice in the morning and womens one a day vitamins?

We're moving early 2011, so if it is my room... Hopefully it goes away.

I don't sleep much, I'm up at 8 am every day no matter what.. I really can't sleep in and I've tried. :p

I learned this from "The Office" a few weeks ago.

Pam: I know a lot of us have been feeling under the weather lately. It's that time of year. And according to a study done by the University of Arizona, they've discovered that your keyboards have hundreds of times more bacteria, per square inch, than a toilet seat.
Kelly: I heard your momma had more bacteria per square inch than a toilet seat.
Michael: That's true, that's true. I dated her momma, and you know what-
Jim: Stop.
Michael: [under his breath] Um... kay. Uh, alright.
Pam: One of the simplest ways to cut down on the spread of germs is to use something called the vampire cough.
Erin: Di-Did you say vampire?
Pam: Oh, no, it's just that if a vampire had to cough, he would do it like this. [coughs into elbow]
Dwight: Uh-huh. Right. And ruin their cloaks? Do you have any idea how expensive wool is in Transylvania? [looks at camera] 'Cause of the euro.
Pam: Well, other things you can do to help cut down on the spread of disease are to wash your hands regularly. Don't come in if you're sick.
Dwight: [rolls his eyes and shakes his head] Uh...
Pam: And get your flu shot. Also, I'm going to set up hand sanitizing stations around the office.
Dwight: NO, no, no. They will cost you your life.
Jim: Elaborate.
Dwight: The worst thing you can do for your immune system is to coddle it. They need to fight their own battles. If Sabre really cared about our well-being, they would set up hand de-sanitizing stations. A simple bowl at every juncture filled with dirt, vomit, fecal matter...
Pam: I'm not - I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that.
Dwight: Exposing yourself to germs is the best way to make yourself stronger.
Jim: So by that rationale, if I had to sneeze, I should just sneeze on you.
Dwight: Yes. I would welcome it.
Jim: [sneezes on Dwight, looks at camera] You're welcome.

LOL.

Okay, okay...

Maybe I should get the flu shot, I'm usually the.. I need to toughen my immune system!
And... clean my keyboard. :p Thanks

But I do cough in my elbow!
