what do you like

My ultimate goal is to get a green tree python once I have my own house. That stipulation is in place because I want to have an extra closet space built into some room so that I can use the height and turn it into a GTP enclosure :)

these are some of the boas that we keep...the iguana lives in our back yard in key west...they are so beautiful but not indiginious to the area.

hope you like :spinner:

By the way, what is that snake in the middle on the top row? It looks awesome!

i believe the one you are talking about is a blood boa.
it is one of the only types of boa that actually adds color as opposed to taking it away.

oh and i just really love ball pythons some times...it's real tough for me to make up my mind on what i love the most LOL

this is a pic of a pastel ball python we produced last year.

I'm sorry it was born so horribly ugly!

I trade ya a couple of non-feeders for that guy, just to take him off your hands...... ;)

Being a libertarian , I think people should be alowed to keep any animal they chose. I don't think it's responsible to sell the large constrictors to children. I have seen kids that look very young walking out of shows with burmese pythons.
Tricolor king/milks have always been at the top of my favorites list. One of these days I would like to get some green tree pythons.

In addition to nine corns, we've got 2 Cali kings, a western hognose, one red Goin's king, one Mex black king, a Ruthven's king, one Baird's rat, an emoryi, one Russian rat (snake, of course). I'm looking to get rosy boas at a show next w/e, or whatever strikes my fancy. Wouldn't mind a rubber boa, but they're protected in WA.

Wow..great thread! I used to be a manager at a local pet store for about 3 years and it was amazing the kind of herps you can accumulate over the course of time. (YES IT WAS ACTUALLY A DECENT STORE WHEN I WORKED THERE ;). I had a ton of herps: Some of the animals included Caimens, Ball Pythons, Retic, African Rock Python...my favorite :D, Iguanas, Beardies, and the list goes on. Now being married with 3 kids, the only ones I have now are 4 corns and a ringneck. :)

I kinda enjoy this thread myself. Here's another one of my non corns. Mr Salty,03 gray banded kingsnake. Although I'm not convinced he's pure alterna.

The snakes currently keep besides corns are: one black thayeri, one western hognose 2 El Rosario rosy boas and one normal ball python. I am am starting to get more into pythons and boas and would like to own a jungle carpet python, a green tree python, a boa constrictor and a couple of rubber boas.

I like most type of snakes and my collection would be alot larger if I had the space and time to accomdate a large collection.

I would not keep very large or poisonious snakes though, such as retics, burms, anacondas, vipers or rattle snakes. I do not feel comfortable with anything dangerous or potentionaly dangerous.

Hmm, personally I really like garter snakes, hognose, and I've always wanted a pair of carpets, white lipped, or dumerils.

I think that huge snakes should be legal as pets. However, only people with tons of snake experience and knowledge, the ability to house them properly and care for them when that are big should get them. I do think that it is unethical for pet shops to be selling them, especially when they can charge the same amount of money for something like a ball python or a columbian red tail, and not have the issues that the big boids have. Same deal with venemous. I have friends who keep them, they know what they are doing (venom milkers, whoo!), most people should never even consider it.

*sigh* It would be cool if gaboon vipers and copperheads weren't poisonous.

Exactly! I'd add to that wish list rhino vipers and eyelash vipers.

Some venomous snakes are absolutely beautiful, but I'd never own one, unless its venom glands were removed, but I wouldn't want to support that practice.

Sadly, even with venom glands removed they still aren't safe. The ducts that run from the glands to the fangs produce some of the enzymes for the vemon, and while a bite probably wouldn't kill you some species could still cause you to lose a finger or hand even without the gland. Also, there have been rare cases where the gland regenerated after it was removed. Oh well. At least I can peek at the ones my friends have!
