Sounds like you have everything sorted - except for one thing

it's not a corn snake!

Sorry, and I know it's a little anal, but your rootbeer is a rat snake hybrid(great plains/corn snake cross) and not a 'rootbeer corn'. The albino version is obviously a creamsicle. It is my opinion that none of the snakes that are corn hybrids should carry the name corn as it is highly misleading. Therefore

rootbeer corn = rootbeer rat (corn/great plains cross)
creamsicle corn = albino rootbeer rat (corn/great plains cross)
copper corn = hypo rootbeer rat (corn/great plains cross)
jungle corn = king/corn hybrid

etc

I'm pretty sure that you already know this but as you are breeding and I assume planning to sell the offspring, I feel it is important that you label the babies correctly so that new owners are not under any illusions as to what they are buying.

As was said she is a Rootbeer RATsnake... Which is a cross between a Ratsnake and a Cornsnake. So no, she is NOT a pure cornsnake and neither will her offpsring be. Sorry man. :shrugs:
 
I second that which is why hybrids should never have the word corn attached. Don't feel too dumb its an easy mistake when you don't understand all the morph names out there and assume rootbeer is just the morph name, but it is hybrid and the hatchlings will be hybrids as well. In gecko world we call our hybrids exactly what they are to avoid confusion and finger pointing. Some will argue you should know all the colorful hybrid morph nicknames, but I find them very misleading and don't see why it is such a big deal to say cornXratsnake- no confusion about that one!
 
No, you would say she is a Cornsnake X Ratsnake Hybrid aka Rootbeer.

At least that's what I would say. Personally I don't really care much for Hybrids and this is why. :(
 
I'm not sure you understand what a hybrid is.
She is a full rootbeer, which means she is a hybrid between a corn snake and a great plains rat snake.
 
You will also need to notify all buyers these hatchlings aren't fullblooded corn snakes to keep things honest, or decide not to incubate the eggs once she lays your choice.

If you bred her with another rootbeer then I don't think you should have to worry about not incubating the eggs. But you REALLY should let people know she is not a pure cornsnake.
 
Hmmm... was it a normal het for Caramel?

I don't really have any advice for you. I mean, I don't think you would have to destroy the eggs. Just make sure any buyers know 100% that the babies are not pure cornsnakes. :)
 
Selling hybrid hatchlings is your decision only. There is nothing wrong with disposing of the eggs if however, hybrids are not your thing, again your choice.
