What to feed my Cornsnake

My male corn is about 4ft long, what should I be feeding him mice or a rat because lately he's been eatting 3 mice a week. Thanks for any help.

What does the corn weight? Would be worth having a look at the munson plan as thats a great guide to work to. Ideally you want to be feeding it a single prey item, no bigger than 1.5 times the widest part of the snake. What size are the 3 mice its taking at the minute?

Three mice sounds like an awful lot to be digesting. The length of all the prey items in your snake can't be making for regular easy digestion.
I echo the above post, how much does he weigh?

So for comparison, I have a 1200 gram snake that eats three mice one week, two mice the next week. Is yours that big?? That would be a huge corn...

Agree with the above - if you're talking about an adult Corn and adult mice, then it should be getting one mouse a week max. On average, mine get one adult mouse every two weeks.

In the wild they're opportunistic feeders, so don't be fooled if yours exhibits constant hunting behaviour and appears to be hungry; that's just what they're programmed to do. They're designed to cope with long periods of time without food in the wild, and the strategy for dealing with lack of prey persists in captivity, even when their next meal is guaranteed.

In captivity they're capable of scoffing anything you give them until they throw up, and then come looking for more! You have to act as a sort of Weightwatchers Group Leader on their behalf, otherwise they'll end up obese and dead before their time.
