i voted hogg island im a big boa fan and hogg islands are beautiful but if this is your first snake id go with cornsnake if not deffo get a hogg and good luck with your decision

i mean technically its not my first. i had a corn and an eastern milk before but because of my land lord i couldn't keep it long so... and I've been reading loads of care sheets so i basically got the theory down. corns grow too slow and are really peuny. i don't really mind that but boas just get me. hoggs dont get too big but have the body.
 
id deff get a hogg so since you have had snakes they are a wonderful snake that or a dumerils boa would be an excellent addition not ptting any pressure on you get the boa get the boa get the boa get the boa get the boa :laugh: :laugh: :cheers:
 
Spotted/Children's pythons don't really get much bigger than corn snakes. Unless you get a "Cape York" spotted with huge parents.

I'd go for the boa.

There are also some larger colubrids like pine snakes that get pretty big.

Gosh, I have a corn snake almost at 5 feet?? Thats not puny... Andy they do not grow slow.. just ask Dean aka Roy Munson.

Heck if you want a snake almost 6 foot, go with a Black Milk. Mine is huge and jet black.
 
If you are interested in a "big snake", why not just go all out and get a BCC(boa constrictor constrictor...true red tail)? A female will reach 8-10 feet in length(possibly more) and could approach 60 lbs. Nothing "puny" about that...

The only downside is cleaning up the cage after what appears to be a St. Bernard has done his business...and finding someone that breeds rabbits for food...

If you want one that grows quickly and gets big but can still be handled, I'd recommend either a Taiwan Beauty ratsnake or a Blue Beauty ratsnake. By two years old, they are generally six feet and can easily grow to nine or more. Lots of personality, need to be handled on a regular basis.

Yeah you are right, I keep on forgetting about these guys. We just got a couple of them in recently. Pretty snakes, reminds me of Cave snakes al ittle in looks.
