What would be the best to breed with a Charcoal to start breeding?

Hello all, this is my first post here and I just wanted to get your oppinions.

I have a Charcoal, She is about 10 months right now, But will be a future breeder. I have no Idea what she would be het for, so I will assume nothing.

My question is, What would be best to breed her with?

I hear Amels will make blizzards, but only if they are het correctly, So as she would not be het (As far as I know) The offspring would be Wild type.

So, If I bred my charcoal, What would be best to get a morph? or to set up a breeding pair from the offspring?

Please let me know.

Thanks

You should buy the 'corn snake morph guide' if you are going to breed...it is fantastic!
It could really help you figure out what type of projects interest you and your best chance at achieving them. It has a list of the known combos etc and the genetics behind what you see and don't see.

Mine's loaned out and I am too new to make any suggestions without it.

I really have no idea, When I bought her, Which was from a pet shop, They did not know what she was het for, if anything. Because they are not quite "Snake Specialized", But they had it also listed as Anery, With no discrimination between charcoal and Anery. A, So they are not the most educated.

Her parents are also not listed in her information, So I assume No Hets, as without breeding it is impossible to tell, and since breeding is a good 2 years away, I have no Idea.

So, If no hets, It would be a Charcoal wouldn't it? Homozygous Charcoal + Homozygous charcoal = 100% Charcoal Het. Charcoal, Correct?

I want to breed Blizzards especially, so I would need Amel. Het. Charcoal? to breed into her?

Let me know

Charcoal + Charcoal = Charcoal (no hets)

If you are looking for a Blizzard, it would be best to start with a Amel het Charcoal

Charcoal + Amel het Charcoal =

50% Charcoal het Amel
50% Normal het Charcoal & Amel

Then depending on how you breed those you would have a chance for a Blizzard in the next generation

I would also recommend you get "The Cornsnake Morph Guide", it explains all you need to know.

alright, That is fine.

I guess with her, I will just get a Male Charcoal het. Amel.

If I breed a Charcoal het. Amel, To my Charcoal, What will the offspring be?

This charcoal is a pet, I am only interested in breeding her once. Charcoal babies are ok with me from her, Since they sell decently also.

So, Charcoal het. Amel + Charcoal = Charcoal het. Amel?
in that case

Charcoal het. Amel + ???? = ???

Please let me know what is possible to get through breeding a Charcoal het. Amel.

Breeding a Charcoal + Charcoal het Amel =

Charcoal 50% het Amel

that means there is a 50% chance they will also have the Amel het. There would be no way to tell without breed testing.

I still think your best bet is to go with the Amel het Charcoal

I wanted to get a morph out of breeding myself, BUT the wildtypes will take three years to produce the possible blizzards.

What percent of the offsprpring would be blizzard? what percent would be amel and charcoal?

Also, I have a question.

If I bred a charcoal to an okeetee what would happen? Just wild het okeetee het charcoal right?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, As it stands, For my first pair,
Charcoal + Charcoal = Charcoal
Amel Het Charcoal + Charcoal het Amel = Blizzard, ?????
I also would like to make Ghosts and Snows, What is the best pair to produce ghost and snows? With the highest percentage?
I also want to add some yellow to my breeding projects, What would be best to make some yellows, (Butter, Caramel, what ever).
Also, I would possibly consider getting motleys or stripes or aztecs, So that is a possibility, How does breeding a pattern morph to a color morph work?
In order to get the snakes you want try combining snakes homo or het for Hypomelanism, Amelanism, Anerythristic and Caramel. I hope to produce some Caramels het Hypo and Amel this year. Just breeding these offspring together would give you Ambers, Butters and Caramels.You could also try this predictor (doesn't need to be downloaded) http://www.kornnatterlexikon.de/index.php?action=6 or this one http://home.comcast.net/~spencer62/cornprog.html ( can be difficult to download and is thought to be somewhat innaccurate?) good luck, Kyle http://cornsnakes.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
So, I got the pairs I want, And they are as follows.
Please let me know if I got this right.
Amelanistic; Heterozygous Caramel
#1 > %25 Butter, %25 Amel. het. Caramel, %25 Caramel Het. Amel., %25 WT Het. Amel. Butter
Caramel; Heterozygous Amelanistic
Lavander; Heterozygous Bloodred
#2 > %25 Plasma, %25 Bloodred, %25 Lavander, %25 WT Het. Bloodred lavander
Bloodred; Heterozygous Lavander
Ghost; Heterozygous Amelanistic
#3 > %75 Ghost, %12.5 Snow, %12.5 Hypomelanistic
Ghost; Heterozygous Amelanistic
Charcoal; Heterozygous Amelanistic
#4 > %25 Blizzard, %25 Charcoal Het. Amel, %25 Amel. Het. Charcoal, %25 WT Het. Amel. Charcoal
Amelanistic; Heterozygous Charcoal
Snow; heterozygous Anery. Amelanistic
#5 > %50 Snow, %50 Amel. Het. Anery
Amelanistic; Heterozygous Anerythristic
If this is all correct, (My guessing seemed accurate to me) Please let me know
