What would I get if I crossed......

Scenario 1-
If I bred houdini to a HYPO then the offspring would be Normal corn het ghost, hypo and anery.

Then breed the offspring back to houdini I should get normals, ghosts, hypos and Anery's.

Remember, a ghost IS a hypo & anery. So the offspring of your normal het anery bred to a hypo would be 50% het ghost and 50% het hypo. Seeing as you would have no idea as to whom is het for what, you would have to keep all the clutch and then breed them back to each other and could also breed the females back to Houdini IF houdini is a male. If houdini is a female you could breed one male offspring back to her but that is a gambel as to whether the offspring you choose is actually het for ghost and not just hypo. One thing to keep in mind is that the offspring odds are not set in stone. Mother nature has a way of playing cruel tricks in the odds department sometimes. So, saying you get a fair number of offspring and keep them all and breed them to each other, you will have a fair chance of producing anery offspring but definitely not a 100% chance. It would take 2-3 years before the one you purchase now is ready to breed (more likely 3) and another 2-3 years for the F1's to be ready to breed.

If you are doing this for the pleasure of seeing if you can end up producing some, then it would be worth the effort. If you are doing it because you want to own as a pet an anery, then it would be much more beneficial to get an anery or ghost of the opposite sex of houdini and then enjoy the fun of seeing the babies.

Scenario 2-
If I bred Houdini to a Red Albino then the offspring would be normal corn het Amel,Snow and anery.

Then breed 2 of the offspring together I should get normals, amels, snows and anery's?

Again, remember that a snow IS an anery & amel. So the offspring of houdini bred to an Amel would be 50% het snow, 50% het amel. So again the same rules apply to this breeding as it did with the hypo breeding.

Of course, these results would change if hypo or amel were also het for anery.

Thanks eveyone..

I'll post picks of my new friend this weekend and also of Houdini. I just want to see what I can get eventually. I only need Houdini any extra is just very welcome. I'm not trying to save money to get an anery I just want to see what Houdini can do. Of course I could just go and buy one, but I want to see the whole process from beginning with Houdini to end. Eventually I will buy more and breed alot but I just wanted some info to see my options of what could happen. For all I know whatever I pick will be het for Anery?? :)

I still say after everything that Houdini is just normal, het for Anery, so you can go back and read my first response to you and that will explain it. There have been some responses after that from people that are very confusing and somewhat off topic because Houdini is not het for snow, so just totally disregard that.

In any event, there are a number of online breeders that sell snakes that are het for numerous things. www.cornsnake.net (South Mountain Reptiles) has a TON of snakes and you can purchase almost anything het for something. The prices are pretty good, too. Buying an Anery should not be at all expensive. I'm doing that when the Expo finally comes here and the breeder I bought from last time is selling his Anery's for $15. I'll walk out with an Anery, Motley and Normal all from him and it'll cost me $50. I might break and buy a butter or caramel too, who knows.

Thanks for all you're help..

On Friday I came home with a beautiful female Red Albino. I will post pics.
