what's a good way to convince my parents into letting me get a few more snakes x)?

Taxidermy

everything under the sun.
hmm, i'm just asking for a few more. two, really. that's all I want. :) but they say I have enough... i dont think they understand

Most parents concerns are about money, time and care. Are you the one putting out most of the money for food, substrate, extras, etc.? If not, they may not be able to nor want to put out more money at this time. If you are working, maybe they are worried you are taking on too much. Do you have too many other interests that would take time away from caring for more animals? Do they think you're caring well enough for the animals you do have?

I've been on your side of things before, and now I'm on the other side. While I can see how your love of animals creates the desire to have more, you have to remember that you live in your parents' house and you don't always know what's going on behind the scenes. Now that I'm the one earning a living, I realise that it's not as easy as I always thought. Looking back now, I wonder how my parents did it raising three kids. And I was always asking for more animals. Mom usually said yes, but I learned my lesson about taking on too much, plus I was never allowed to have even a single snake.

I hope you have the time and finances to take on more snakes eventually, but maybe for now you should respect your parents' decision. Once you're out of the house, you can do what you like and that's one perk of turning 18 and being an adult. I'm not telling you to give up on getting more snakes, I'm just thinking that in a few years you can make those decisions for yourself.

:)

I remember as a little kid thinking how lame my parents' "I don't have the money for that" excuse was. I mean, who were they fooling? I knew full well that the bank was on the way to the toy store. :grin01:

Ha Ha.. How many do you currently have?

Maybe just buy them your self? :p

I have three, and I have bought two out of the three myself :sobstory:. the creamsicle and pink and green snow. My mother bought me the classic. I have even asked them, what if I buy them myself? still the answer is no, they said they dont want any more snakes in the house. Maybe because my father is afraid of how big they are getting? He seems to be drawn away from sid and johnny now and more into Jimmy, possibly because jimmy just looks like a little worm and sid and johnny are getting much bigger? I think i might have scared him too bringing him along to pet bazaar to see how large they get :shrugs: , which isnt very small but they are a decent size. oh well.

three words: guns to heads. that usually works! :grin01: or you could just beg,do housework, become slave.......etc.i tried the last few after i got into trouble for the first! :grin01:

Or just wait a couple more years until you are grown. Then you can have as many as you want. Trust me, it'll go by faster than you think.

pull guns to their heads you say? :twoguns:
that sounds like a good idea -ponders-.

:crazy02: Hoorah!! :crazy02:

same problem here... i want another ball python but i can only have 3 perm snakes and a temp w/c... i told them no more wild caughts if i can have another bp but still no... hehe

Hmm, I suppose so, guess i'll just to live with having three for the time being.

You are extremely lucky to have three snakes with your parents' permission. I would say it's probably fair to assume that a large proportion of parents would say NO to one snake in their house.
In my opinion it is best to just wait until you're an adult, and in the meantime be grateful that you have the snakes you have now.

Taxi

good to see someone else from C. Florida. I lived in Sanford and Altamonte (Orlando my life b4) before moving here to Lakeland. And I still frequent PetBazar once a month, great place.

I was going to tell you what I did. I just brought them home. I caught most of my stuff so money wasn't involved until feeding time. Then I would go the the Serpentarium and buy huge blocks of frozen mice, rats, and chicks for about $15. Which George doesn't do anymore because he has so many animals now he can't spare them.

But Dionythicus and Mr. Munson have hit the nail on the head. I had as many as 80 snakes, a dozen turtles, and a few lizards when I was sixteen. Today if I did that I would be outside living in a cardboard box. And you must respect your parents wishes. Trust me, one day you'll look back and see their side and reasoning, whatever it may (not just with this situation either) be, and probably pop your forehead and say, "Dagumit, they were right that time..." :)

Ew, my parents are never right, never :sidestep: . -sarcasm- Actually they have been many times, I guess i'm just spoiled :sobstory: . Well the good news is, I can get one more snake as long as I buy everything for it, as well as the food. So it looks like i'll be getting a job.

I don't like florida all that much, it's way to hot. But i've been living here for eight years now. So I shouldn't complain. Also, Pet Bazaar is an amazing store :)!

politely explain to your parents that by breeding your snakes your hobby will pay for it's self! even if you have no intention of breeding, you can tell them that it's the wrong time of year or something! :grin01: P.S. you could tell them you have all females and need a few males to balance the equation! :grin01: well, it worked on my wife.......

Names

I don't think the names of your snakes is helping your dad's fear of them. ;) They are probably afraid of what OTHER names you would come up with if you had to name anymore of them. ;)

:roflmao: Oh, I have many more names in store ... like Jim Morrison and Heroin Bob. Hmm, Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten.... I could understand those, but Jimmy Urine xDD, I'm just a Mindless Self Indulgence fan.
