Whats up with the sizes?

I got my snake from a breeder about 4 weeks ago. He's 12 weeks old now. (sunglow corn)

Anyways, I went up to the store with my snake to show the guy my snakes growth, but I noticed something...

All the snakes that were present a month ago are still there, and they are noticably larger. I feed my snake a pinkie once every 6 days and they feed their snakes every seven.

My terrarium is 10 gallons and has everything the snake needs while the other snakes have a half gallon to sit in. Its sad but, why are the others larger??? they are the same age.

PLUS! The other snakes were pretty hostile and agitated while mine on the other hand has never bitten anyone since I've had him.

Suggestions? Stories? explanations? :punch:

Maybe he's feeding less often, but larger food items than you are... Snakes do have different rates of growth, it could be you just got a slow grower. I wouldn't worry about it, no hurry to grow them big fast... Your every 6 day scedule might be a bit less often than some people would be feeding when a snake is on pinkies.

If I remember correctly there are "runts" in snake clutches. We have a snow whom we figured was pretty young, until we re-read the sticker on her deli cup (we bought her at a show) and realized she was older than our Okeetees who are 5-6 grams bigger than her.

So in simple words: Yeah some snakes are smaller/slower to grow than others. Odds are that your snake is perfectly healthy and will grow in time.

Well if you want to induce the fastest possible growth, human blood works wonders...

Follow the Munson plan.
Weigh your snake figure out what he/she should be eating
When you thaw your pinkies cut slits into the back with a pair of small grooming scissors (Allows all those yummy digestive juices to get into the mouse faster and absorb nutrients better) [pretty sure I read that here somewhere]

Remember that your snake isn't really going to be big until it's more or less full grown and that takes years.

Enjoy the fact that you can still hold your snake in one hand.

I second that and the fact that if your snake is on pinkies, usually is fed every 4-5 days. It may even be every 3-4 days.
