Hey everyone

I've liked this band for a while, but they're not *hugely* well known (despite the 10 million views on the TTFAF video, LOL). So I wanted to know what you guys thought of them, as I know there's quite a few metal fans here. They're called DragonForce, and originated in London, and their music is classed as 'speed metal', or 'epic metal' by some fans, LOL. They have released three albums. I'll show you two of their videos (both studio versions), Valley of the Damned (their first song) and Through the Fire and Flames (most popular, it was also on Guitar Hero 3).

Valley of the Damned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZvpvz6IdAU

Through the Fire and Flames: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jgrCKhxE1s

Also, this may seem a little strange (due to my apparent music tastes), but I'm gonna audition for the X Factor (has to be the 2009 series now). I like all music bar hip-hop and rap, and I enjoy singing, so I'm gonna go on. What I'm wondering is should I sing:

A. Smoky Mountain Memories
B. Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
C. All That I Need

Thanks

All the best

David

Ah, Dragonforce. Gotta love them. They're actually pretty popular with the 'nerds' so of course I like 'em. Try blasting Through the Fire and Flames at a convention and see how many people start rocking out with you XD
I don't like their music videos, but man, they have some SICK guitar playing, its insane how fast it is!

dragonforce is alright, there's a time and a place for them, sometimes they just get me so stoked, and sometimes i just wanna smash whatever stereo is blaring their tunes.

you should have an "alright" option, hahaa. also, i don't know any of those songs that you want to sing, so fraid i can't help ya there!

Yeah, their music videos suck, I agree with you there, Kanchii.

Yeah, I should have, shouldn't I, Katia. Sorry about that. Search them on YouTube, although I'm surprised you haven't heard B. It's sung by Elton John.

I only know of Dragonforce becaues of Guitar Hero 3. :p TTFAF is a cool enough song, but they strike me as being a really pretentious band and I can't get into them.

Thanks for the replies guys. Nova, I know exactly what you mean, they do seem to think that they're better than they are. Stregone, yup, definitely. I don't regard them as being amazing or anything, and they are terrible live, which proves their music is too ostentatious on the studio versions. Also, getting wasted before shows and having guitars that are out of tune doesn't help either :grin01:

Thanks Paulina, I love that song too. Oh and yes, I would sing it in a similar way to David Archuleta (I heard his version first), because I can't sing like a southern dame, LOL.

IDK they just seem like they are trying too hard but have little new to offer. I guess it's one of those bands that MIGHT grow on me if I hear them more but first impression is Meh (if that was a poll option I woulda voted)

"Through the Fire and Flames" is the "bonus song" you get to play through during the credits on Guitar Hero III for Wii... And it slaughters me every single time! haha. But it's a great song.
