Thanks for the bump, saved me from hunting it. Just got back from camping and was planning on giving y'all a update today.

Possum the Opossum made a full recovery and was released in a 300 acre wooded swamp on our farm, she had done a complete turn around since the start of the this thread and will live a full and happy life in the woods of central Florida. Thanks for everyones help on this, it was much appreciated. :spinner:

Can I just ask you a question please? Is this only until you get the correct permit to own them or? After you get the permit and things you would be allowed to move or go to the vet right? I was just wondering because I also live in Florida and it is always good to know these things just in case. I always let anything I might catch go at the same place I found it (or more likely something one of the kids caught), or if it is on the road we always release it on the side of the road that it was trying to get to. But still you seem to know so I wanted to take this opportunity to pick your mind real quick. Thanks!

The permit to keep captive wildlife such as Raccoons, Armadillos, and other small game animals is a Class III No Cost Personal Pet Permit. I'm not sure if your supposed to file for the permit before or after you have the animal but I'm sure it doesn't matter as long as you file as soon as you can and have a enclosure already in place. The person to ask would be a FWC law enforcement officer as that would be the person to issued you a ticket if you were not in compliance or you can ask a question on there website (link at the bottom). Your not at a high risk to be caught unless someone reports your activities to the FWC and even then they have to know who you are and where your keeping the animal to report it. The FWC hates for people to move animals as it can easily spread disease and it causes animals high levels of stress to be moved to an unfamiliar area.
