When is it time to move up food size?

I have a corn that is about a couple months old. Right now he is eating about 1 pinky every 5 days or so. How do you gradually change the size of food? when? I hear it has something to do with the size of the corns head and then i heard something about the girth of the snake at the biggest area. Please advise. Thank you everyone.

the general rule is up to 1.5 larger than the thickest part of the snake ...then when there's not a noticeable lump after being fed try two prey items for a few feedings... then move up to one at the next level ... pinks , peach fuzzies , fuzzies , hoppers ,weanlings , adults , jumbo adults ...good luck :)

You need to start moving up sizes when the prey item does not leave a noticeable lump after eating. After pinkies, try peach fuzzies or small hoppers. Or go with 2 pinkys and then move the snake up to hoppers.

I think you got your sizes mixed up. after pinkys you go to peach fuzzies or fuzzie, not hoppers. after fuzzies you go to hoppers.
pinks are 1-3gr, fuzzies are 4-7gr, hoppers are 8-12gr. So if you go from pinks to hoppers that is WAY to big of a jump, my yearling is just on large hoppers.

im only feeding my new baby pinkies for now, but im guessing all the others are generally available to be purchased f/t? or should i start to worry about breeding mice

You don't have to breed mice. If you can't find the various sizes of mice locally, you can order them online. There are several places to order frozen mice in bulk. I use Big Cheese.

I love the "mouse system" Over the pond, so simple: pinks, fuzzies, small mice, medium mice, adult mice. It makes so much sense :p
