When to feed?

I got a new hatchling thursday, and I was planning to give her a week to settle in before feeding her, but I found out that I am leaving tonight and going to be away until Friday night or Saturday morning. Should I feed her tonight or when i get back.

Any response apreceated, thanks

Five days is probably plenty of time to get settled i would say, as long as you have managed to leave her be for the five days!!

Remember, It's not an exact science. You're snake is not marking a calander. Try and feed before you go, if he doesn't eat, feed him when you get back.

Snakes have teany tiny brains. They will never know the difference.

Well, I haven't handled her at all but I've checked up on her mybe once a day by peaking uder a hide.

The first couple of weeks will be torture, all you want to do is handle the snake which is exactly what you shouldn't do :)

As said, I would try feeding before you go, but it's not a huge deal for 5 days. Snakes are very hardy and can go months without food, provided they have water. Hatchlings though, maybe not. I usually feed hatchings twice a week, or once a week depending on the species. A corn snake hatchling would probably do well on one a week, which gives you plenty of time. That, plus they usually don't eat well for the first week or two, when they're adjusting to the new home. :)

All of my corns have eaten for me the day I brought them home, without a problem. I then used that as an excuse for myself to not be tempted to handle them.

Hey CSB, do you live in Cols? Cause I swear the lady at Jack's told me the same thing--the snake I got there is super healthy and has been eating two pinks each and every feeding a treat for me. I got her on a Thursday, which isn't the best since she'd just eaten, but they'd fed her in the travel case and I didn't handle her from there.
