Where do Illinois residents get their corn stuff?

Hi everybody,
I'm new to snakes and am doing my research (with a ways to go before I'm ready to buy a snake), but have question for Illinois or nearby residents. I'm from Central Illinois (UofI) and was wondering if fellow Illinois residents can share where they got their snakes and supplies from. Are their breeders in Illinois? I am willing to go to St. Louis or Chicago or nearby states if need be. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Welcome to the forums, zwyatt. Can't find any Champaign corns, eh? (sorry, bad joke....you'll find out in time....)

Anyhoo, in the Chicaaaaaguh area, you'll find Chuck and Connie, aka Serp and Hurley. (If you're eyeballing their hypo lavs, the line forms behind me.) If you want to march to the Arch (sorry, got the Final Four on my brain), you'll find Zach. And no, Quigs...I haven't forgotten you. I just wasn't sure if you were hatching anything out this season....

All of these fine folks are regulars here. (Compared to CAV and E_g_guttata, both of whom are quite irregular....but that's another conversation.....(I kid, I kid....(stop me before I embed parenthesis again!))) All would be happy to get you started on the obsessi-UM, the "hobby" with a cornsnake.

As for "supplies", I'd suggest browsing through the forum threads (the search feature rocks for this, btw) for information regarding anything you may be curious about.

Again, welcome.

regards,
jazz

Thanks Jazzgeek! I will definitely look closer into those suggestions when the time comes for me to get a snake. BTW, I guess I was asking more about where people around here get snakes rather than supplies (but you caught onto that), since I have most of the supplies already available to me. Thanks again!

I don't know how soon you plan on getting your corn(s), but there is also a fantastic show in October in Tinley Park (right near 57 and 80, not even into Chicago very far) that has hundreds of vendors and is a good time. Kathy Love will be there as well as many others. If you hold off that long, I definitely recommend it.

:D

Thanks Serp & Hurley! I had tried to search for shows like the two that you recommended, but couldn't find any (probably no looking in the right places). The October show sounds great. I guess I should technically find out if snakes are allowed in the apartment that I will be in next semester, but I might be getting one as early as this summer. I might wait until later though, except that I'm so excited that I don't want to wait! Thanks again for all the help!

yea when i lived in the chicago burbs i went to the swap. Its pretty cool but some breeders(bearded dragons) are terrible. I got a BD that wouldnt eat and the breeder said he was to busy to talk when i called him!

i live just west of chicago in the suburbs. when i researched getting a corn, i had problems finding a breeder near to me. (that was at the time, now i know where a few are). i ended up buying my corn from moreptiles.com. i absolutely love my little guy. they're located in missouri, so it's not too far to ship. just another option for you.

Thanks Had1 and frogurt9 (I actually have relatives in Glen Ellyn). I'll check out moreptiles.
