Which cage to get?

Kjay

Helloooooo out there!
Tonight I caught Noodles trying to push up on the screened top of her tank...it is held on by clips. Darned if was able to make it move! I think I'll get her a new snake tank but what kind? Are the Critter cages with the sliding/locking tops considered good snake cages? I want something easy to open, yet escape proof. Any such thing? :)

I have my male normal in it and it works out great! The only thing I like about it is that it is hard to get the big top off.

If I am not keeping my snakes in tubs or other plastic cages, I use critter cages. I prefer them over any other Glass cage. i like it when they Click and it lets you know the cage is locked. I would go with one of these. But as your collection grows, I always recommend racks. :) you can keep more snakes that way in less amount of room.

I had a bad experience with the sliding top... my first corn snake escaped through that *sniff*... I personally like to put weights or books on top of the screen top if I'm using glass... I only have two cages like that, the rest are tubs which are MUCH easier.

I don't see how that's possible if indeed you had a critter cage because the screen top not only slides into groves but it is locked down by the plastic piece that slides in along the entire front. Nothing is pushing out thru that not even a full grown corn snake. So I suspect that either the cage was damaged in some way or it was operator error, OR, it was not a critter cage.

Not a critter cage.. similar but not it. (I never said critter cage, just sliding tops... m'kay)

Okay. But I think you should have specified that because all the other posts before yours talked about the critter cages then you came along and said you had problems without telling us what cage you were actually talking about so it's easy to assume you were talking about a critter cage. And since the original poster is trying to make a decision about what cage to get, I think it's important that he/she knows what cage you're talking about that you had a bad experience with.
