Which covers do you like???

I like the Zilla tanks for my lizards, but not for my snakes. I lost my beautiful, sweet amber male because he escaped from one of these. He had found a weak point where the screen was attached to the corner of the lid and broke through. I'm sure it took him a lot of trying to weaken that spot before he was finally able to break free. This was back in October and I still haven't found my precious snake, and I'm still really upset about it. I went through all the usual methods of finding him, but no luck. I fear that one of the cats found him and he's no longer alive. :(

My next snake's cage will have a lid with heavier wire mesh in addition to cage clips.

Sallydog, I'm sorry for your loss. It'd break my heart to have one of the snakes disappear. I can't imagine how one could possibly get out of the heavy, snug lids my dear hubby made, but I know they often find a way where we don't think they can. May you never experience that again.

It was very hard for a lot of people when we lost him. That snake was used for education at a conservation center and it really hurt a lot of people when he died. We spent a week looking for him, and noticed the cats going down to the basement near the stairs and we found him. :( He had probably been found by a cat and moved all the way across the house and into the basement. He had been dead for a few days, because he had an odor to him. :( It was horrible. My new snake is going into a cage with a heavier wire mesh lid, and clips for the time being. I ordered a new cage with sliding glass doors and a lock, and thats where I'll put him when it arrives. I'm probably going to start upgrading to the stackable, sliding door cages. They cost more, but will end up saving me space in the long run.

I've had my critter cages for a little over a year now..I'm going to be getting a racking system within the next two weeks in order to make some room in the house..so I'll be giving my two tanks to my friend..I would highly recommend them to anyone with snakes or any other kind of lizard :0)

I have 2 critter cages, a 40g and the 20L that my last snake was in. My only complaint about them is that the screen is kind of flimsy, at least to me. If one of my fat cats were come into the room (not allowed to, but it happens), and sat on top of the screen I wouldn't feel comfortable with it holding.

I think that maybe that corner was weak to begin with, maybe it got weakened during shipping to the store. I'll never know.

I really like the vision cages. They do cost more but they are very nice looking and stackable. Another thing I really love is that I don't have to move heating and lighting fixtures to open the cage.

I have a 40 gallon critter Cage for my ball python and I just picked up a 20 gallon (long) for my 4 month old corn snake maize because I trust the critter cages so much , I would highly reccommend. Worth the extra money when put in comparison with losing your little buddy :)
