solid snake

hi
I'm about to get my corn snake, i already know all its cares, but i don't know which substrate to use...
(i was thinking of using a T-REX substrate called "coconut bark", they are like medium pieces of coconut..

I use that coconut fibre bark for my scorpions and boas but its perfectly good for corns. However it is expensive and hard to spot clean.

I find aspen the best substrate. Its cheap, encourages natural burrowing behaviour, easy to spot clean and safe.

Never use pine or cedar for corns, it may kill them.

I also stuff their hides with shreded newspaper, i swear its gods gift to snakes, they LOVE it.

Paper towels and newspaper is of course the cheapest substrate and extremely easy to clean, however if you want a natural look to your vivs, then go with some sort of reptile bark or aspen. You may find white mites from some reptile barks though. These are harmless to the snakes but very hard to get rid of.

Welcome to the site!!!!!!!! There is a lot of information here. Be sure to read the FAQ section in the forums. They answer a lot of questions.
There are a lot of great people here. Everybody is always willing to help.

Most people use aspen.

I have aspen now, but I'm thinking of switching to paper towels or newspaper so I can find poop better. Like I said, I have aspen and my snake is so small I don't think I'd ever be able to find a turd. When she gets a little bigger I'll switch back to aspen.

when my snake was a hatchling i used paper towels so i wouldn't loose track of him. now he is a yearling and i use aspen and he seems very comfortable. aspen is also easy to clean out

well, the one i´m going to buy is already a young, it´s a little big now, but its not a hatchling, so i think i´ll use aspen.
this is it, right?
