I was in my local snake shop Friday and they have a new corn snake. It is an adult, easily 4 feet long. They are only asking $30 for it, and like everything else they have they either don't know where it came from or they just wont tell me.
I would have bought it immediately but it was making a funny, whistling sort of sound. It was pretty regular almost like it was just him breathing. I wasn't sure if it was a sound it was making because it is in blue or if it was wheezing.
I think that if it was wheezing that may be a sign of respiratory problems. Is this a sound that could just be a result of being in blue or is the snake sick?
I hesitated to make the purchase because I didn't want to add on another hefty vet bill, but now I feel like I may anyway just to make sure it gets the care it needs. This store has alot of snakes and I'm not sure they will give it the proper attention.
Let me know if any of your snakes have made these sounds before and what it turned out to be. Also, if it is respiratory what steps (besides a vet visit) can I take to ensure it lives a long healthy life?
Thanks
