Why I Love Digital Probed Thermometers

I glanced at Lila's viv last night and saw this. I like that I can mount these right at eye level so it's impossible not to take note of the cage temps every time I walk by. I suspect the dial got jostled when I had to move her whole cabinet Saturday. The highest reading recorded was 91.8, but Lila stayed in her hide. Her normal setting is 84-85.

Yes, it's from Big Apple Herp. There are four different models- others measure humidity and temp. My thermostat for my heat/ac is right there, though, with a humidistat on it.

I think I might get one. I was going to replace my LCD sticker thermometers by now, but never got around to it....

And another thing: At BAH I saw several different types, and I don't really know what they mean.... So which should I get for just measuring temps on both sides of the tank?

To measure two temps with two probes you order the Two Location Thermometer With Minimum/Maximum (Dual Proba) for $24.99.

The price drops when you order more than one.

Most of mine are set up with a probe in each of two vivs in the warm side. I like it when I can have one viv with warm and cool measurements.

Thanks.

More of a reason to get another corn!

Hehe! You got to convince my wife of that, and I will get all the THERMO meters I can!!!! Nice find BTW, but if I had one, I would still temp gun the cages daily (just out of curiosity, do those read really accurately? Because mine is always a degree or two hotter than what my laser tempgun reads?).

They read within a tenth of a degree or two of what the thermostats read. Herpstats.

I love temp guns, though. I use mine every day, all the time. How cold are my nightcrawlers? How hot is Isabel's bath water? Stuff like that.

Heh, when I first got mine it was the same... I had to "temp" everything, the cats the dogs, my wife and kids, the car... and most importantly, the snakes cages... Thanks for the heads up, I am not sure why my probe always reads high? If it becomes I aprob I will start a thread. Thanks Nanci
