Why you shouldn't feed your breeders dog food with red dye

Sticking To The Ceiling
The only kibble that I would feed to any of my pets is Fromm (Surf & Turf-grain free)
My dogs get raw (Darwin's), but as far as kibble goes, Fromm is the only one I'm comfortable with, & it's what I would feed breeder mice.

thought I was gonna see some pink mice or something. Kinda like when people feed their hedgehogs strawberries or blueberries... google it, heh.

I like red dye. Why would I eat a regular corn chip when I can have the red ones? The red dye gives me a nice red color instead of me being all pink white color.

If you buy the real cheap dog food there is no red dye in it or you can buy the real expensive dog food and there is no red dye in it either.

Or you can buy rodent lab block at your local feed store that is what I do. But that is just me being to lazy to read dog food bags.

lol, me too!

Okay, tried looking for a pink or blue hedgehog, didn't see anything besides baby hedgies and Sonic. Did find out the reason for the color change though; apparently they like wiping their spit on their quills.

;D My local feed store doesn't carry rodent lab block. There's only one local store that carries it. Said store is about 45 minutes away and only carries the 2 lb for $5.

Hey Raptor,

I agree that your local feed store does not have it in stock. However, if you call your local

Tractor Supply Co
700 N Main St, Bristow, OK 74010-5600
(918) 367-9907

they will order it for you. Just talk to the nice female assistant manager and she will order it for you.

P.S. Any Purina dealer can order it for you and it will only take a week to arrive.

If I breed a large amount of mice, I'll keep that in mind. I rarely have over 20 mice so, getting a huge 50 pound bag would be over kill. Don't have the freezer space to freeze the blocks either. Hee. Parents only tolerate my little mouse morgue. I doubt they'd appreciate the lab blocks.

My mice get a hand mix blend of grains, seeds and other stuff. No corn, no artificial colors. Recently had a litter of 10 (they are fuzzies now) and momma is showing signs of expecting another litter :)
