Why would a hatchling eat once on their own, but then not eat again even after 3 1/2 weeks even though there's no sign of shed or illness?

Many reasons and no reason.

If you need help, there are many threads on here for problem feeders.

I have had luck by braining and soaking the pinky in warm chicken broth before introducing it to the hatchling.

I've tried just about everything: Tuna broth, chicken broth, washing, braining, slicing it's back, leaving it in a dark place and just letting her do her thing, putting a hide in there, teasing, motion, etc. Maybe she has brain damage...she acts like it isn't even there. Maybe it's an intestinal parasite? I've been reading about anole occassionally on this site for problem feeders, and I've been trying to make it to the store to get one , but I'm picking one up tomorrow so i can scent the pinkie with that too or maybe just try feeding anole in general. I don't know if she can last until then, so after trying that, and it doesn't work, I was going to take her to the vet. So, I guess I've tried almost everything. i'm just very discouraged. Sunday will be the end of her 4th week of no feeding and I am very nervous. Maybe I am rushing it too much.

I wish you luck! Anoles often work since they are natural prey for hatchlings. I hope this works for you. Don't give up on the lil one.

Ok thanks a bunch :) No worries, I will not give up on her. I'm going to try everything in my power to get her to eat, and if she refuses the anole, I'll take her to the vet. Thanks for the ecouragement :)

SHE ATE THE ANOLE!!! WHOO HOO! I'm SO happy! Thank you everyone for your support :) I bought two anoles: one that was eaten (which took her only 2 seconds to react to, I was amazed) and one that I will keep to rub pinkies on/use it's shedded skin to feed pinkies to her with. I don't know if that will work, but I am going to try it next time so I don't have to sacrifice another poor anole. They were 4.99 each, so I will go back and get more if it turns out that she will only eat the anole , but I am going to try hard to convert her. It's not the money issue, it's just that I feel bad for the poor anole. Thanks again everyone :)

The only thing I didn't see was live pinkie, have you tried that? Good job with anole, $4.99 lucky you here they are about three times that.

Don't forget that live (unfrozen) anoles have parasites. I'd let her get good and hungry before your next attempt, then put the pink in a small container with the anole and let it get really scented up, then give her the pink.

I would have tried live pinkies, but none of the pet stores (all three of them) around here sell them and she really really needed to eat. Since live pinkies were not an accessible option, I didn't list it. But thank you for suggesting that. I am going back down to MA this weekend, so I am going to pick one up and try it, or maybe I will just breed my own. I want to try it first to see if it even works.
