Wild mice, traps, food?

Pet Corn Snake

New member
Well, we recentally discovered we have a small infestation of mice. Pain in the ass.
But we caught one tonight on a trap and its dead, im just wondered if anyone feeds these to there snake? Now im aware of illnesses ect.. but it has clear eyes ect.. What If I left it in boiling water?
I know some people kill rabbit for burms and birds too..

Also, it just seems a waste really, because they will be in the bin or otherwise disposed

If you put it in boiling water you would be essentially cooking the meat. Which is bad.

Why risk the health of your snakes by finding them a free meal?

Im not even considering it as a free meal elle, I have enough money to buy billions of mice to be honest.. I'm just thinking its a real waste of mouse..
But, I mean, I'm just trying to see if anyone has done this before.. I know some people on rfuk catch rabbit ect.. "which also carry lots of problems"

You never know what the mouse will have picked up/eaten ie rodent poison. It is simply not worth the risk, why even consider it?

Use your money to buy fresh mice and put the dead mouse in the bin where it belongs.

Seems fair enough.

You ask why I consider it.. Because I dont like to see wasted life. I am afterall a vegetarian and feeding a dead animal to something higher in the foodchain that would potentially eat wild mice in the wild seemed something to consider.

I didn't know there were wild populations of corn snakes in England lol.

It's only a wasted life because you chose to lay a trap and kill the poor creature...

Lol get off your high horse troll.
I set the traps because I don't want them eating my house. Which is something im sure you would do in the same situation.. Unless of course being the super human you are, you'd let them eat the foundations of your home and go out and pay £200.000 on a new one..

And theirs no wild population of corn snakes in the uk, but there is a wild population of mice in America. DUH

I guess I said something you didn't want to hear eh George. Typical reaction *rolls eyeballs*

Theres no comparison. Like you have been told by everyone else, why risk it?

I have a cat to take care of the rodent population. She eats every last bone of her prey items. Thats the "natural" way to do it ;)

Mum hates cats, they piss everywhere.
<3

Thats a rather sweeping statment. A cat correctly litter trained will rarley toilet outside it's box. Unless there is something medically wrong with the cat.

Outdoor cats (which my girl is) don't get the oppertunity to "piss everywhere". Except for in the grass?

Ewwwww.. Thanks for that Nanci I was eating cornflakes lol.. :p "type of breakfast food in england"

And I guess because theres a mod on my thread, ive been reported lol :p Honesty doesn't get you far these days :(
