Worst keeper ever :(

LOL! There's always one or two. My arboreal babies can give me grey hair (well more than I already have) sometimes. They hold out forever. I usually finally get mad, pick them up and whack them over the head two or three times with a pinky part and that sometimes works!

Sorry for your escapees, I use a rack for my babies. I use the small storage containers in it for babies. I go to KFC and buy the side item bowls for water bowls. Yeah they think I am nuts when I go do that but they sale them to me anyways. Not the purdiest of racks but they do the trick and no one gets out. And was only a few bucks to build.

I get a pack of two or three of the disposable squares from the dollar store and they last for years and years. Once they are larger they go into shoeboxes in my rack.

You mean they have KFC's in Kentucky?
Nice setup-but if they never get out how did you shut the drawer on one? :dgrin:

LOL dang should have edited that out. Yeah in Ky, but I think there are other ones outside of the state.

See-You learn something every day. I thought they were only in Texas and Japan. (I wonder if one of the sides there is fried rice)?

What?-No comment on the poor little critter you so carelessly and cold heartedly smashed in that drawer? Looks like you flattened it pretty good. You are probably so cold hearted that you wear it around your neck!

We have KFC's here and I really hope you are joking with your comment to Bob about squishing a snake. He is very far from cold hearted and cares about his snakes deeply. I am sorry but I feel those comments were completely uncalled for.

He's joking about what looks like a strap for something hanging out of the drawer. Don't forget that sarcasm and a joking tone don't always come across in text! :)

I was thinking tie (hence the wear around your neck comment).I was joking about the KFC's as well. The fact that they are in Japan means that they are everywhere in the U.S. There was supposed to be a smiley in that post. IDK what happened to it.Guess I should have previewed that one.

While some of the little ones continue to be stubborn, I've gotten several of them to at least -bite- a pinky by tease-feeding them, or trying.

And tonight, I actually got one to eat! I will take one small victory. Only six more to go.

ETA: Two ate! Make that five to go.

Well, after getting all but one of my stubborn little worms eating mostly on their own, I lost the most stubborn tonight.

I did everything I could. I feel like crap. I know sometimes they're just not meant to make it, but I really do feel like. Well.

RIP #10

Sorry for your loss :( I highly doubt you're the worst keeper ever, and I'm sure you did everything you could for the little one.

Binder clips! Binder clips! Binder clips! Lol Babies need binder clips cause those little turds and squeeze out anything. I was getting escapees no matter the tub I used till I got binder clips.

Haven't bred yet so don't really have any helpful advice about feeding but sorry for your loss, it must be heartbreaking when you have tried everything ...

I was going to say when I started reading the thread that perhaps you needed to try alternative boxes, but others beat me to it ...

This did make me smile though. I put two yearling corns into their forever viv last week, and 10 minutes later one of them was half way across the sitting room floor ........

Are you keeping two in one cage? You're asking to lose both of them that way...you're lucky the other wasn't out too. Stressful for them as well....they are not communal snakes. My snake room is completely sealed so even if a snake gets out of a cage, it can't get out of the room. Much safer for everybody that way!

Well my snakes are in my sitting room/home office, so sealing it off isn't really an option :D

I just found Christen's comment very funny.

As I said in another thread I'm putting together my first viv stack - and the python went in hers, no worries, the adult corn in his, no worries, the smallest in hers - straight out the cable hole

the cable holes are now all sealed - the hoglet didn't find it but they can't climb so well :D

They can get out of the smallest holes! I sold a cornsnake baby to a friend of mine....told them make sure that the temp probe is on the heat mat outside the cage...just turn up the thermostat a touch to balance off the glass in between so that the sliding cage lid would close completely....they didn't do it...snake gone....there's a normal corn running around Aiken, SC somewhere...maybe....

Worst ever was a woman who called me about a copperhead her son had caught and kept...and how she had babies...and four of the babies were gone....could the mother have eaten them?? Errrr, no..... When questioned further they had the mother in a glass cage with the double screen lid on the top that came together in the middle....small space there...um, don't put your hands anywhere you can't see first and don't walk barefoot in your house...thanks for calling....oy!
