WTH? Hibernation?!?

I was watching SnakeBytesTV on youtube on the owner of BHB reptiles kept pointing out the importance of hibernation to colubrids.
I have done my research, but nothing is helping me out here.
I have some questions:

1) When will cornsnakes go into hibenation?

2) When should you stop feeding before hibernation

3) Is hibernation really nessesary?

4) Cornsnakes dont go into hibernation if the temperature is the normal 75 F right?

5) Could I control when my snake hibernates? (keep the temp up until... and put it down when im ready)
