I'm so happy thisis the start of the season for me. My first clutch of 5 eggs. small clutch the female retained 3 and 3 died before hatching

AND provide pictures! Vin...it's not like you're new around here...Details, man, DETAILS!

(and good luck!)

Thanx guys

I used a Different way of hatching these guys . I did this last year on one clutch and tried it on three this year. I use white cotton rags cut in half from home depot boiled in water with a little peatmoss for 15 min.after the water starts to boil, then drain off the water. Then when the rags cool down I ring out the rag the best I can . it seams to work real well. I use the same meathod for the egg laying contaner. After the snakes hatch I just rinse the rags out in cold water and boil the them with a little freash peat moss put them away for the next year.

#1 to sterlize everything, this is inportant to me. Remember comes srom swamps and bogs

#2 to leach the peatmoss smell into the rag.

Congrats! I'm just starting to have eggs laid, and yours are already hatching! You must have gotten an early start this year.

And that's an interesting incubation method. I always love it when people are trying new things.

Congrats and Goodluck!

Wayne

PS. You aren't planning on feeding them chicken, are you?!?!

J/K of course!! LOL!

of coarse I will . Don't fall into the trap of being closed minded. Remember the rodents you feed your snakes are not the rodents they naturally feed on. also corns in nature eat birds and raid chicken coops to eat chicks. Don't fall to the stupidity of closed mindedness

I don't close my mind to anything! I completely realize that wild specimens have a more diverse menu, that could include the occasional chicken coop chick, birds, lizards, other snakes, eggs, rodents or whatever.

I just remembered that thread and I couldn't help myself.

Congrats again,

Wayne

glad you have a good knowledge on the animals . Too many people just dont know enough about snakes in the wild:cheers:
