My favorite animal is the lowly chicken, game fowl to be more precise. Such beauty, brains and heart in such a small package. I don't have any now but I am lucky a neighbor down the road has them and I can here them welcome the dawn every morning.
 
I always loved dolphins. I wanted to swim with them until recently when I liked the facebook page "Did you know.."

He is also trying to guilt me into one of these. However, I did find out I am allergic. So he has to get his ferret time in at work.

I made one from a bunch of floral fabric when I was about 10 years old. Anyone ever see a floral anaconda???
 
From my fishing trip a couple of weeks ago, these 'Sea mice' kept getting thrown up by the waves as the tide was coming in. They are polychaete worms with 'fur' in the form of light-altering spines that change colours! I kept picking them up and letting them walk on my hands before throwing them back in the water. Afterwards I was alarmed to find that they can engulf prey 3 times bigger than themselves! As the biggest ones I found were over 6 inches long I'm glad they didn't seem hungry! I've got a little film of one on my facebook page but don't know how to link to it, so this is a youtube film showing just how lovely they are

Giant Salamander!

I didn't know these existed. I love them already. Too bad they're also on the Chinese food list.

This is the Chinese giant salamander, the largest known salamander and amphibian in the world. Adults can reach up to an astonishing 180cm (6ft) from head to tail, although sadly they rarely reach that size today. It is considered critically endangered due to habitat loss and its status as a "delicacy" and component in traditional folk medicine.

I saw these on one of the nature series- I believe it was "Life". Anyway, thank you for posting that picture and reminding me just how much I want to give one a hug.
