Your favorite animal; or the coolest you've seen.

My personal favorite animal is the platypus.

I also really love African wild dogs - I really wish I could have one as a pet.

Speaking of pets, I would love to have a genet as a pet. (You should look them up on Youtube if you want to see them in action!)

I also think quetzals are beautiful.

The hoatzin reminds me of an archaeopteryx, so of course they are automatically awesome. You can't see it very well here, but the babies have claws on their wings.

Jacana babies are the cutest things ever:

And if you've never heard of water bears, you should look them up - they're very cool.

Surinam toads are so gross and cool, but scroll past if you have trypophobia!

And I'm surprised no one has mentioned okapis yet! They remind me of something prehistoric.

I could go on and on...

That's a sad photo of the Tasmanian tiger. It was one of the last surviving ones at a zoo....left out in the cold, starving and ill....It died soon after that photo was taken. A sad ending to an animal that should never have been treated that way....people suck! As for favorite cool stuff...any deep sea critter. The fish and such are just wild looking! I have an Okapi card that I got in France...not sure from where..maybe a museum or from school but I've got a whole set of cards like baseball cards with animals and the French description and one of them is that.

Nanci!!! How did I NOT know about Slothville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, Hyenas!! How could I forget hyenas...I lurves them lol. Oh and any cephalopod! Squids, cuttlefish...^-^

We have a maned wolf here at our zoo o.0 He was sleeping when I was there last so I didn't get an upclose look at him...maybe next time. We also have a mantis shrimp at our little aquarium. On a behind the scenes tour we got to feed him...talk about aggressive!!! He didn't want ANYONE near his little tank lol. The tour guide stuck a plastic stick and let me hold it so iI could feel how hard he strikes and wow, I almost lost the stick lol. Made me jump that's for sure!

Owls are pretty cool too

With ears set at different places on its skull, an owl is able to determine the direction from which the sound is coming by the minute difference
in time that it takes for the sound waves to penetrate the left and right ears.

One of my favorite animals are sloths...seriously...ADORABLE!!! Another favorite...the honey badger...badass little critters for sure...

I love that platypus picture lol...they are so cute!!! I find odd/misshapen animals to be some of my favorites (I own sharpei/labs for pete's sake lol).

No Way! Sloths have been my favorite animal since about 4th grade.

I really don't know if I could pick a favorite animal - in general or that I have seen personally.
I am a fan of all cats - big and small - wild and domestic. My favorite of the big cats is the mountain lion. I could die happy if I could see one in the wild - or a Florida panther for that matter. Everyone kind of knows me as the "crazy cat lady".

I also have a deep and abiding love for wolves. I owned a wolf mix for many years and she was an amazing companion.

On a cuteness factor - I love the fennec foxes. (I am at work so unable to post pics right now). But those big ears just do me in every time!

Albino lioness?

She's most likely not an albino, but a white lion, judging by her pale eyes. If you ever get the chance, there's a book called 'The White Lions of Timbavati' that tells how the first white lions were discovered. I found it in a charity shop in my teens and still have it! They've got a colour inhibiting gene.
I've seen the blonde and white lions at West Midlands safari park a few years ago, they are lovely

Considering the babies are also white, I would agree that it's a "normal" gene for the animal not albinism which is a recessive trait. If she were albino, most likely her babies would have been normal colored lions.

I'd have to do a bit of research, but from seeing the lions which are various shades of blonde with paler greyish/greenish eyes I'd hazard a guess it's a diluting gene of some kind. All the lions in the group I saw are from the original Kruger park where they were first found.

I considered that, but figured that if this is in captivity the chances would be high of an intentional pairing for that specific result.

What zoo is she from Tara? I bet she's related to the ones I saw. I wish I still had more photos of the cubs to show you, but I lost them when my old computer broke
