Homemade lid for 10g tank.

We couldn't find a lid for our ten gallon tank (seemed like the whole world was out of the proper size) so my hubby made one for the tank. Its fitted around the whole tank and slides right on. There is no way to dislodge it from the side..it would have to be pushed straight up. He used window screening then layered another metal screen over top so Bubblegum couldn't escape and to add some stability to it. Then he added the trim to "fancy it up".

Here it is...

That's really nice. Are you going to get the hubby to build custom vivs in the future? You should!

Actually he has been talking about making an enclosure when its time to go bigger. He is so handy to have around ...he doesn't even like snakes(they make him nervous..some tough construction dude he is lol). He comes up with this stuff on his own too.

Thanks for compliments!

nice viv - have learned though that you will see much more out of your snake if you dont use light - they really have no need fro them

i second this. using some form of heat underneath with a thermostat to regulate it is probably the best way to go. keeps them from getting cooked too.

awesome lid too btw!

Thanks for the advice...as soon as I get a UTH and stabilize the tank, I'll likely get rid of the light. It gets very cold here in the winter (-28 last night) so I don't want to freeze the poor baby.
