You know what sucks about living in Utah

I was unaware that there are some places you couldn't just pop into a 7Eleven and buy alcohol until I went to Arkansas to visit family and there were whole counties that were dry. Up here, we even have bookstores that are selling wine and beer.

No Costco cannot sell liquor in Utah. They have beer but that is all. Only state owned stores sell liquor. There is not competition, no sale prices, any where in the state. Every bottle of Patron in Utah has the same price tag on it.

Now it would be against the law to import liquor and I don’t suggest that anyone does that but Utah is surrounded by Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado. Most Utah citizens will find themselves not too far from a state border. At every border crossing you will find a liquor store that sells booze for half the price of Utah Owned Liquor Stores.

Wyoming even actually has drive thru liquor stores on just about every corner in most towns.

When I was in high school that is where we went to buy our booze, the drive up in Evanston Wy. It is easier to look older when your sitting in a car. At least that is what we thought.

I don't have the partickulers of Utah law right on hand, but I'd think it was against the law to drive drunk too. If'n you had to pick one of the two, which would be a better choice?

I'm not perfect at all. Never gonna get there. Or near there. So I'm not preachin, I'm tellin.
Wade you know I love you bud. But if you ever drank 11 shots and accidentally ran into one of my kids and killed him, they wouldn't need to waste time picking a jury. I'd kill you with my bare hands, my friend.

Just over a decade ago, I spent two weeks on vacation in Utah. Whitewater rafting, mountain biking, large-format (4x5) photography, a night at the symphony, the whole nine yards. It was a blast.

When I landed at SLC, I went to one of the airport gift shops to get a bottled water. It was there that I saw that best T-shirt, EVER. It said:

"If you think our liquor laws are strange,
you should see our underwear."

I bought one on the spot.

Wade aren't you from the southern tip? (St George or Cedar City) Isn't that really close to Vegas? Problem solved. :grin01:

I've given out too much rep today (a first for me). When you lose someone very close to you because of a drunk driver, you tend to feel quite strongly on that particular subject. Unfortunately, very few offenders listen until it's too late and a young life gets terminated. And the worse part, even then, they don't listen, show no remorse, and get off on good behavior after 6 months and are on the road again driving drunk.
